So I had an extra game board that I built about a year ago and never did anything with… decided to paint it up for X-Wing. This was about the easiest game “terrain” board painting I’ve ever done and I think it turned out pretty good (only took about an hour and a half in the painting stage).
I figured I'd put it up for folks because it was pretty easy to do and works very well for X-Wing.
Started out by painting the board with Leak Seal, the rubberized spray that is intended for... well... sealing leaks. It comes in black and picked it up at the local hardware place.
This gives the board a little extra grip so that the miniatures don't slide as much.
Then I thinned out/watered down a couple different colors to put the nebula type effect down with a foam brush. Blotted with a paper towel (one color at a time).
Got some slightly less watered down white onto the foam brush and lightly flicked it to put down some stars.
Then went back over with some of the star spots with light blue, light yellow, light orange to pick out some of the larger stars.
Finally, just straight up white with a fine brush to add stars, put a slight twinkle/asterisk on larger stars, etc.
