Hey guys I play Dark Angels.... really really really sad that this was my first army.
But I really want to get into a different army--because I want to win my local tournament sometimes and get free stuff, but as of now I can't do that with Deathwing or Ravenwing.
Maybe you guys can help me with a better army since I want some painting fun. Eldar and Tau are apparently getting a new codex which makes me afraid of the Nerf Hammer, maybe guard. Just help a bro out guys

What's your DA list? They can be good, maybe a few tweaks to your list will help instead?

If you like the bike play style, and the rumours are try (and they're compelling, with videos to back it up from an upcoming White Dwarf) then Eldar are absolutely worth a look.

They'll never nerf Eldar into a state of complete unplayability. They've always been at least semi-competitive at worst. That being said, serpent shields and wraith knights should certainly be getting nerfed. Or at least a points increase.

Either of those armies would be a good choice if you're looking to be competitive. Definitely wait until the new Eldar 'dex is out though. No sense buying two books. IG, vanilla SM, Necrons, and 'Nids are also some good competitive options. That being said, most armies have the potential to be good in the hands of the right player, especially in a local meta.

Master the army you have before you spend $2000 on a new army to beat face.
If you are dead set on some new models, try Knights to add to your DA force.
Have you done Green Tide with your Dark Angels? 60 marines on the table is darn hard to shift.

I would say post your list first to see if you can improve it. Also is there a certain army you face a lot ? Or is it all pretty mixed? Also, how long have you been playing? Your problem maybe lack of experience in tourneys?

Yeah, those bikes can be pretty good. Get a bunch of those with an Imperial Knight, and wreck some face. Another option would be to post the type of army you're likely to play, get some opinions, then maybe add in a small ally force if you feel there are some gaps the dark angels just can't fill.

3 squads of Dark Angels(Chainsword and bolt pistol, Plasma Pistol and Power Fist, Plasma Pistol and Power Sword)
Belial was a Blood Angel in Termie armor HQ
A dreadnought (Any weapon combo)
Ezekial
Interagator Chaplin (Plasma Pistol)
Company Master(Combi-plasma, Power sword)
Liberian (Plasma Pistol, Force Sword)
6 Black Knights(One Hunt Master with Powersword, 2 grenade Launchers)
3 Attack bikes (Plasma rifle)
5 terminators (Assualt cannon, Power Sword, Chain Fist)
A Predator(an old 40k model that I use as a lascannon predator)

Any special/heavy weapons in those Tac squads?

My first thought reading that list, is that your guys on foot aren't getting stuck in quick enough. Could do with more mobility for them. Maybe get razorbacks/rhinos/drop pods?
Another factor could be lack of cover in the games you play? Open ground games make it a lot more difficult.

I don't know all the much about DA but it looks like you have a tonnnn of points in your HQ units (I don't know the points off hand). You are also playing DA, one of the benefits is having terminators as a troop choice, so I would add more termies.

---- I am not sure if all these are HQ's or not, but I would try maybe 1 or 2 low point HQ's - I maybe wrong but it seems they are a ton of points sunk into these guys.

You should have a few points saved up now, so I would throw the squads of DA in rhinos.
and add as many terminator squads as you can and deepstrike.

If you like running tanks, I would invest in a landraider and throw a squad of termies inside.

My friend use to play against me running a lot of characters like you have... he would sink soooo many points into them, and I would just wreck his face with elder np.

He then just started taking 1 hq and got 3 more squads of termies and it started to wreck.... even without a land raider or tank.

I used to play the below, had success. Do your tournaments allow forgeworld?

If FW then look at imperial flyers, daemons are strong, nec tons are tough, elder and tau shoot a lot, even bids are tough again. It's really up to your style.

Check out formations and their special rules. I'm sure you'll see something you like that fits and is strong.
