Not a fan of this technique on realistic miniatures such as LOTR, but you certainly have the right amount of smoothness and contrast necessary for a good NMM.
I hate my brain (Interesting aside: my iPad has an autocorrect problem. It replaces regular everyday words with strange words or combinations of words. Where I wrote "I hate my brain." My iPad changed it to "A Yin ate my brain today." - where did the word "today" even come from. And how does "I hate" convert to "A Yin" - capitalized "Yin").
