Hi everyone,

Have an update on the effort to figure out cooperative rules for attacking the Death Star Trench. Staring to work pretty well -- have a few more bugs to work out!

Here's a write-up on our most recent efforts and test play. Turn #9 turns out to be the climactic one - will the Gold Squadron Y-Wing nail his proton torpedo shot ???

I agree that the turbolasers need a nerf. In the movies they were completely ineffective and did little more than warn the rebel ships that the TIEs had entered the trench. Perhaps limit them to a single attack die, but have them do multiple points of damage if they hit?

One other thing to consider: bombs and ion turrets on the y-wings. The TIEs are committed to a fixed maneuver every turn, so three y-wings with seismic charges should be able to instantly kill all of them. And if any survive the y-wings are free to shoot back while continuing to move as fast as possible into torpedo range. I would certainly ban bombs, and consider making the A4 title mandatory on the y-wings to match the "real" version of the battle.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.
