Ok I was giving it some thought and I wonder if it could work this is whst I came up with, its not exactly faction pure but interesting.

I'm thinking if you expect to see a lot of fighterd you could swap out the Beams for Pulses. The warbirds should be the enemy's primary concern, but the science vessels can pack a punch, especially with Mendak handing out BS. What do you guys think

Cheap disruptor beams, puts this list on the map. It would be interesting to try out, its got potential.

It's an interesting Swarm build!

The only thing bad about it: You'll lose a ship a turn once the shooting starts, and a smart player will pretty much ignore the Avatar until it's the last ship (I would any ways).

The greatest weakness of this build and all swarm builds in general: cloaked mines. One well placed cloaked mine could have a very high potential to destroy both Science Vessels and inflict some crits on the other ships (if they are cloaked).

Throw it on the table and tell us how it goes!

Tamwulf brings up a very good point. Cloaked mines could be deadly to those little science vessels. With the nibble dial of the science vessel I think a decent player could use those 90 degree 1 turns and sensor echo to avoid going into the mines. With no red on the dial the science vessel can get out of some tight spots.

I don't think someone can really ignor the Avatar. Salatrel will be shooting at skill 10 which is before most captains, unless your meta uses a lot of skill boosters.


I would like to see swarms become a thing in this game

I found 1 straight or bank with sensor echo can still be very effective as well. Fly your squadron in a v wedge formation. The lead ship creats the range 2 bubble while the ships behind the lead ship will escape those mine(s) alot easier while not losing forward arc on the enemy.

The hole in this is if multiple ships have mines and come at you from differnet angles, but hey the more they spend on mines the less they have of other stuff. Your hard turn will still be able to manuver out of it 9/10 times.

Fragile but Mendak makes it threatening. I have faith that you of all could make this work.
