Greetings Everyone I'm trying to find a second faction outside my main to try and get a feel which would be a solid fit to have as a second army, to switch things up. I've tried looking into Cygnar and Mercs so far, But I also have had an interest in the Scyrah army as well particularly the caster Ravyn, Eternal Light, she just seems like an interesting caster to build with. I've decided to try and build a 35pt list with her and was hoping to get some advice from other players about list this army to see if I'm on the right track to making her the best she can be.

What I got so far:
Ravyn, Eternal Light
-Manticore
-Manticore

Dawnguard Invictors (Leader and 9 Grunts)
Dawnguard Invictor Officer & Standard
Soulless Escort

Mage Hunter Strikeforce (Leader and 9 Grunts)
Mage Hunter Commander

At 35pts I would definitely recommend sticking to a single jack for Ravyn. The Manticore's will do ok on the feat turn, but otherwise they are way too much of a focus hog - usually you will just be putting down cover fire with them. I would recommend Discordia because the blast immunity is huge for the Strike Force and a boostable spray gives you a way to deal with Stealth. Its also essentially free to do this, because you can drop an Arcanist (don't need two for a single jack) and the Soulless (which is filler). That gives you 8pts to play with - I would consider A+H and a pair of Assassins but there are multiple options tbh.

The main thing you need to be careful of with Ravyn is taking too many guns - you need some stuff which can push forward and survive in zones if they need to (Strike Force can do this ok with DEF14). Some people like running her with Halberdiers, because they provide a relatively cheap, punchy speed bump unit. I tend to use solos - a Destor Thane or a MHA toeing the back corner of a zone can threaten anything that walks into it (or near it tbh) but if they don't have high POW/boostable guns the Thane takes a bit of effort to remove and the MHA is a problem is they can't see Stealth or get around the high DEF. You can use Veil of Mist to block LOS to them as well.

WOuld going with a list like this be a lot better or is it better to max out he halberdiers? I added in the Discordia since I see thew point of having a jack with Ravyn and it being a good option with her. I added in a Mage Hunter as well but wasn't sure if it was a must to have them in pairs or just good with one or would it be beneficial to add in A+H to the list?

Ravyn, Eternal Light
-Discordia

Dawnguard Invictors (Leader and 9 Grunts)
Dawnguard Invictor Officer & Standard

Houseguard Halberdiers (Leader and 5 Grunts)
Houseguard Halberdiers Officer & Standard

Mage Hunter Strikeforce (Leader and 9 Grunts)
Mage Hunter Commander

Arcanist

Assassins are generally better in pairs purely because their damage output is so dice dependent and it saves you from disappointment. They only have one attack, so can easily miss and at dice -10 against an average heavy they often bounce off (only for the next one to do 20pts of damage). One is fine because their huge damage potential means that people have to respect them.

The Halberdiers feel a bit forced in this list tbh, its only a min unit and you don't have a Houseguard Thane. I feel like you would be better of with a unit of Stormfalls and/or a bunch of solos (including stuff like A+H) at 35pts and probably look at putting in the Halberdiers at 50pts. Its really up to you though, I would recommend sticking with the core of Invictors + MHSF + Disco (and an Arcanist) and trying out different support options with the remaining points to see what works.

Thanks for the advice, I honestly didn't think the Thane was such a key unit but reading up on him it's good to know that now . I took your advice and went with the solos and it seems to fit but on the topic of solos though I noticed A+H does work well here as well as the MHA's but I was thinking would switching the assassins out for Ghost snipers be a wiser move or would it be better to stay with the assassins?

Ravyn, Eternal Light
-Discordia

Dawnguard Invictors (Leader and 9 Grunts)
Dawnguard Invictor Officer & Standard

Lady Aiyana & Master Holt

Mage Hunter Strikeforce (Leader and 9 Grunts)
Mage Hunter Commander

Arcanist

Mage Hunter Assassin
