Ark brought this up. It's a game that had a lot of people steamed because they couldn't run it and the forms were filled with arguments about optimization and build a better computer. So anyway who's fault is it when a game doesn't run on your computer? Is it the fault of the developer to optimize it? Is it your fault, go buy a good computer? Is anyone at fault?

on the forum. Obviously

If its a question of optimization, then its the developers fault; they should have put in the extra effort to make everything run efficiently.

If a house is constructed with shoddy materials and techniques, the architect is to blame, is he not?

If no one can get the game to run, or its super buggy, glitching, constantly crashing, and there's just mountains of problems, then it is the devs fault for not optimizing well.

If you're getting blue screens of death, that's probably on your end

If your computer matches the requirements yet still cannot run it because of bad optimization, then the developer is to blame.

Mind you, all of that isnt relevant for Ark. Its still in pre-alpha, any optimization is stiull a decent way off. But if its a full release and you meet the requirements, yeah, theyre at fault.

Yeah, Ark is a bad example. If we are talking full release of a game and it doesn't run on a computer with all the requirements then the devs are to blame, no two ways about it.

If you purchase an early-acces game, on it's opening weekend, and expect no problems you are being an idiot.

Another thing to consider:

Is it just the core game, or have you installed mods/made ini edits/etc.?

If it worked before, then stopped working after your mod was installed... it's probably the mod.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

Something like Ark not working is kinda to be expected since it is an early access game.

Now, Mortal Kombat X on the PC.....

I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.
