Steel Mongols( also known as the Iron Shadow) my custom space marine chapter. Look up the Emperors Shadows to see the paint scheme they would have.

Forged in secrecy, the Steel Mongols were created shortly after the Mechanicums initial attempt to create a private space marine chapter failed. However the Inquisition was not allowed to interfere with their plans this time as they decided to complete their project on a much smaller scale and by creating make few smaller chapters instead of a single larger chapter of space Marines. As such they have so far avoided any unwanted attention.

Many of the recruits hail from the forge world they were created to protect, the Mongols maintain their heritage of honorable combat and dedication to the Mechanicum. From birth they are indoctrinated into the cult and they are taught how to maintain and the "Great Balance" between soul and body, and machine and machine spirit. Their mastery over machines has allowed them to call upon even the tainted machine spirit s of their enemies weapons from a distance and turn them against their masters.

Like their forebears among the Iron Hands, the Iron Mongols are utterly intolerant of physical or mental weaknesses in others and least of all in themselves. There devotion to the Mechanicum is extremely fanatical as they are willing to purge the weakness from not only themselves, but also in other factions of the imperium they deem "unworthy" as well as the opponents they face.



Secret weapon of the Mechanicum - all character sgts with this chapter tactics can be upgraded to a techmarine with servo arm for 10pts. Each model upgraded in this way may take a servo harness for 25pts. These models take up only one space in transports despite having the bulky rule.

Blessed Machinery- all vehicles in this detachment have the IWND special rule and have a 6+ invulnerable save against glancing hits and a 5+ invulnerable save against penetrating hits despite not usually being affected by the chapter tactics rule.

You may not take captains, librarians, chaplains or chapter masters in this detachment. These are replaced with the following:

Relics-
Ysnriel the Spirit Lord 80pts. unique, this relic bears the great Machine Spirit Ysnriel and isworn as a mask by those Techmarines worthy enough to wear it. It allows the Steel Mongols greater connection to the machine spirits in the battlefield around them.

While this relic is in play all models with the blessing of the omnissiah rule gain become mastery level 1 psykers or gain 1 additional masterly level if they are already a psyker. Models affected by this automatically know the objuration mechanicum power.

Awakened Spirit 30pts-

Unique, may only be taken by a vehicle, and may be taken by any vehicle in this detachment. This vehicle gains +1Bs, it gains the venerable rule and adds 2+ to its invulnerable saves and IWND rolls.

Blessed servos-40pts unique.


The model that takes this relic counts all of its weapons as mastercrafted, and ignores the unwieldy rule. In addition this model gains FNP 4+.-
