Ok i'm going to open this can of worms:

The new DA is the first faction that is designed around 2 detachments cooperating together (Deathwing detachment and Ravenwing detachment). It is immediately obvious that either you go Greenwing or your army will be composed of those 2 detachments.
The issue at hand is that the ETC actually does not allow 2 detachments to come from the same faction (i can't for example go Nid CAD + Leviathan).

How should we solve this? Introduce an exception for the new DA? Remove this limitation altogether?

This could do with moving.. wrong part of the forums.

Next year should be a complete overhaul of the system as is becoming obsolete in line with the new releases.

Andrew had a very good proposal: Usage of each race once on the team. that means you can have as many detachments you want but if a player use DA, no other player can have DA in their army. I strongly support this approach

Some formations (which are a particular type of detachment) are VERY small. If the tourny rules are only 1 detachment from a single faction it's kind of just BS with the way the game is built in 7th.

All formations of a faction count as a single choice together with their codex. I can legally play nid codex + skyblight + living artillery node + lictor formation + manofactorum genestealers etc etc etc and still i could ally with Tau.
