Sorry if this has already been discussed. I was looking at various armies on the GW site and I noticed the Orc and Goblins Battalion has a sold out watermark and also says no longer available in the info. Despite all the army books being taken down I found this odd because all of the other army box sets seem to still be available? Does anyone have any idea as to why this is the case?

I can only assume that games workshop are selling all remaining stock of their batallions and other box sets knowing that over the next year or so most of them will go out of production and be replaced with new age of sigmar compatable models with round bases... I imagine some models will be rebranded age of sigmar, but I also expect a lot of new stuff to come out...

Having said that GW isn't going to throw away all their stock - they'll continue to sell stuff until its gone - but I imagine certain Warhammer box sets are going to be harder and harder to get hold of as time goes on, especially when new sigmar factions start showing up and displacing the older models...

The batallions are designed for warhammer 7th/8th edition - looks like sigmar is going to be an entirely new direction which would call for entirely new batallion box sets to be produced in time.

Thanks, I guess I get that it just seems weird that before AOS release its the only Army box to be listed as no longer available but I guess it is what it is.

Perhaps its just because games workshop still have copies of all the other batallions in their warehouses at the moment, so they are still selling them - its just the orcs and goblins was the first batallion to sell out? Maybe others will go that way one the last boxes have been sold, and we will start seeing new chaos and sigmarite batallions appearing in the warhammer section before too long, along with the other rumoured factions....

Or perhaps a new O&G box since it's the first they let sell out cheers

They'll replace old ranges with new stuff we've already seen sigmarines are radically different from empire.

They'll just sell what stock they have now I doubt they'll make kits for a discontinued line, after all they don't make gothic stuff anymore nor necromunda gangs.

If there's a model you desperately want buy now it might not be there later.

This here does worry me a bit, because I've been slowly collecting a bunch of Greatswords ( I dont play WHFB, I do play DnD and other miniature friendly games, I also happen to really like that box as it's well designed and surprisingly close to some historical units)
