Hello guys,I'm a little bit confused,can I use the basic detachment form the rulebook(1 HQ 2 troops mandatory) and choose an ally usino the detachment from their codex?Ex:space marine+imperial knights,can I use 1 captain,2 tacts squads+an imperial knight?It is legal?

Yes.

The Combined Arms Detachment (CAD) in the Basic Rule Book is a type of detachment that can be taken by the vast majority of armies.

An army codex may have additional formations which may be taken in addition to or instead of a CAD.

You could have a CAD of space marines and/or a formation of space marines (one of their special formations), and/or could take an Imperial Knight detachment (which consists of 1-3 Imperial Knights).
