All this dithering over Greece is getting boring. European ministers flexing their muscles and posturing over whether they can help the Greek people of not.
Why don't we the people just sort it instead?

I never used Indiegogo, but don't the pledges get collected even if the goal isn't reached? Because people giving 160€ to what seems to be a joke campaign seems a bit steep.

This campaign has fixed funding, (read the tool-tip on the question mark next to it, it is coded into the site) will only collect pledges if the goal is reached.

Indiegogo, does have the option to have money collected even if a goal isn't reached. In the UK we have something called "comic relief" the point of which is to raise money to help people (read the wiki page if you want to know more), whilst at the same time making people laugh. I see this as being in that vein, how the hell the the money would get passed on the Greece is something I'd rather know before I back it, oh and Greek debt is currently around 323 billion euros, this 1.6 billion euros is about 0.5% of it.

I like the tongue-in-cheek style he went for, the Greek island thing was a step too far and I see the rewards detracting from the campaign a bit, firstly; helping people is reward in itself and also the Greek food rewards seem a little bit of a waste.
Sure they'll benefit makers & suppliers of Greek feta etc. but hmm.

Unfortunately the deadline is in a few hours away from the time of writing this, however if Greece and the creditors do come to an agreement some how, there will still be another deadline after it, so it could still help.

I will also point out that it will fail if people say it will and it doesn't gain publicity (it's gone up at least 10k euros in the time of writing this, considering it hasn't hit the mainstream media yet). That publicity will also mean that this will not be able to become a scam if the media track him down.

I have Greek friends, the current situation sucks for them, let alone there are going to be a huge number of economic migrants from Greece moving to countries around Europe soon otherwise, as if the xenophobia directed to migrants by the tabloid press wasn't enough.
