Ok guys here is the deal, and I've not played chaos before only empire and vampire counts. Over they ears I've collected quite a bit of chaos stuff with the intention of starting different cult armies with them in 40k, due to the stupid changes with 4th and so on, we all know this became hipster pirates in space with no daemons, they also did this with the last two editions of fantasy which also irked me, however because I embrace end times and they made it so we can take all chaos again ( LOC ) I've finally decided that I will make a full mono god themed army for FB 8th.

With a possible nurgle daemonkin coming and we know that 40k daemons are also coming with csm around autumn, I've a pile of minis for both games that I am looking for input over. I'm VERY torn between slaanesh and nurgle legions of chaos.

Obviously mono lists are not as good as mixed I know I know, but I am of the oldschool realm of chaos days and simply cannot accept or bring myself to playing mixed so that is out of the question, yes I may be handicapping myself but for me it's about themed well painted armies I enjoy and want to play.

What I have:

Nurgle lord on daemonic mount
Nurgle lord ( uber plastic one )
1 Wargor ( 2 handed axe guy )
5 chaos ogres ( full command )
30 plaguebearers
6 nurglings
24 chaos warriors ( 10 halberds debating about making 2 small units )
5 chaos knights
10 marauder horseman
10 slaanesh hellstriders
Slaanesh lord on daemonic mount
Slaanesh champion
5 putrid blightkings
10 seekers of slaanesh
40 daemonettes
1 Nurgle Herald
1 Slaanesh Herald
1 hellseeker chariot
1 chaos chariot

Now as I said I'm really torn between the two and I know that nurgle is very strong in 8th, but I also have 14 deathguard in metal and a metal nurgle seb perpet dp and am strongly considering doing mono nurgle for 40k when the new dex comes but am not 100% decided.

I feel that I could go with a mono slaanesh for 8th which would be cavalry and speed heavy, I would imagine this would be delicate also but having the cw and knights gives it some durability and punch also, not on the level of nurgle but it's a trade off between slow and tough or fast delicate and alot of attacks.

Is mono slaanesh viable and fun for casual games as we do not really play comp or anything serious, so I wont be facing crazy lists but at the same time don't want to make a slaanesh list if even for casual they will lose most of the time either, so any input would be appreciated thanks. At least I can still buy daemons even if the mortals go oop.

I had the same dilemma as you have on your hands now. I had various chaos units, but what tipped over the edge for one God was the Glottkin book. It is very fun playing with all the new Nurgle models and rules, but I have never seen a strict slaaneshi army, I say go for the unique choice. Choose slaanesh

You can make a Slaanesh build in the 8th book that allows for the Incredible Hulk build that was fun in 6th. Pendant of Slaanesh allows for lost wounds to grant extra attacks. There's also a daemonic gift that allows for wounds caused to gain back health. Madder he gets, stronger he gets. Go nuts with Slaanesh. Of course, as David said, the Glottkin book is amazing and so are the blightknights.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.
