I'm assuming that when a model:

1. Is singular but has two options for melee weapons, he has to pick one to use.

2. Consists of two or more components (like a Rider and Steed), and each has a different melee weapon (like Rider's Pike and Steed's Hooves) you can use both in the same melee.

Is that right? Thanks.

Depends if the scrolls lists them as having X weapon AND Y weapon or X weapon OR Y Weapon.

looks like most things can attack multiple times with different weapons, if they have them both. .

It is mentioned under the skill wheel what weapons the model uses and if it says that it the model fights with both than it uses both. For exammple if it says that some lords fight with a two handed sword while others with a sword and a spear, than you can either use two handed sword alone or one handed sword and a spear.

ATTACKING
"The number of attacks a model can make is determined by the weapons that it is armed with.... The number of attacks a model can make is equal to the Attacks characteristic for the weapons it can use."

Note the plurals. In both shooting and melee, a model can use as many weapons as is on its profile. (Soul Grinders are AWESOME!)

this is actually correct. Or at least should be.

This isn't even a debate of RAW vs RAI. It's more like...Fluff as written/intended in respect to rules lol.

Hmmm, so not necessarily ALL the weapons on its profile.

But certainly more than one, at least for the Monsters I've seen.

Keeper of Secrets: "It fights with its Razor-sharp Claws and an Elegant Greatblade."
So this model does use all two of the weapons on its profile.

Daemon Prince: "It cleaves the foe with a Daemonic Axe or Hellforged Sword and rends them apart with its Malefic Talons."
So depending on the model, either Axe or Sword, and always Talons.

Soul Grinder: "It is armed with a fearsome Harvester Cannon, Piston-driven Legs and a Hellforged Claw, and can spit a horrific Phlegm Bombardment. Some Soul Grinders also wield a Warpmetal Blade, while others have a Daemonbone Talon."
So in melee, always Legs and Claw, and either Blade or Talon depending on model.

It seems more or less models attack with whatever they are physically equipped with unless otherwise stated. As previous posted said, some models will tell you specifically what they are using with no options for it. Others will say they are equipped with either x, y or z.

For models that have multiple options, and since it all seems to be on a model to model basis, it looks like WYSIWYG might be important in this.

Thanks for the responses. WYSIWYG makes sense. But boy this is indeed a big paradigm shift.

Yes.

For example, the Soul Grinder is listed with both the blade and talon but you only attack with one of those choices depending what's on the model (+all the other options as standard).

It says something in the small unit description about having A, B and then either C or D.
