Hey guys are these mats any good .. compared to lets same Frontline Gaming F.A.T. mats? I like the designs and they are cheaper as well.

Anyone know how the top finish compares to F.A.T. Mats?

This is the first that I had ever heard of them.

But the name of the company hit me in the nostalgia button - the first Napoleonic army miniatures that I ever saw were carried around in layers of cotton, inside of an El Producto cigar box.

The Auld Grump - filled with lead, that box was pretty heavy....

*EDIT* Wow, those look old school. I approve.

There's a cobbled one, which is probably just what I need for a bookshelf street scene

It's a pity about the cost, but I'll keep them in mind.

Well that cost intrigues me because its less then F.A.T. Mat. I'm just not sure abou the top layer sheen. They have some realllly nice designs though, I love the Forest with a bit of snow look.

*** OFF TOPIC WARNING ***

Around about Christmas time, try looking for Lemax Christmas village products.

A lot smaller than the 6x4 battle mats, but also a lot less expensive.

They are textured, and will accept paints.

Spoiler:

Michael's often has them for half price during the season.

When i was younger I worked at Ace Hardware and remember the xmas houses being made of ceramic. Are the Lemax also ceramic?

I believe that it is some ceramic-like resin.

Some are surprisingly solid - I have a bridge that has been in use for almost twenty years now.

The Auld Grump

*EDIT* Just checked, the bridge, at least, is resin - but also long out of production.

Ya the best time to pick this stuff up is from your local hardware store after the holidays... usually they drop it to 25-50% off.
