Hey folks, I'm only asking out of general curiosity, but outside of the Mines of Moria and Goblin Town starter sets, did GW ever produce any other LotR starter sets? If so what was in them?
Cheers!

There was a starter set released with (and named for) each of the LOTR movies. Each on contained a soft cover rulebook with rules (updated with each movie) and a set of scenarios to go with the movie. IIRC, the other contents of each box were;
FOTR = Last Alliance (men & elves) and OrcsGoblins
TTT = Warriors or Rohan (ft & mtd) and Uruk Hai pikemen
ROTK = Warriors or Minas Tirith and Mordor Orcs

Cheers! so did all of these come out prior to the release of Mines of Moria? Did they have any scenery? Were they could value compared to the regular kits?

You can still find some of them on the second hand market and at a good value. I was able to pick up complete starters for FOTR, TTT, and ROTK for just under $200 which would be ~2/3rd of the original retail for untouched minis+everything else. The boxed sets of all kinds are still floating around out there and are generally more then original retail but still defiantly under current retail price. Also a good way to get metals if that's your cup of tea(I LOVE metal minis)

Yeah, they all came before MoM. I can't recall the exact costs, but basically you got 2 boxes worth of models plus rulebook and dice for just over the cost of one box normally, I think.

Yes, these all came out first. I don't think MoM came out until well after the last move. IIRC, there was some basic scenery in at least the second two movie starters (runined walls in TTT and some old statures and other rubble in ROTK). At the time, they were a great deal. I think they sold for around $70-80US new and contains a lot of plastic figures and a complete rule book (not like the abreviated book from the Escape from Goblintown starter). I remember I bought two of the TTT starters, because it was cheaper than buying just the figures separatly. I'm not sure what a complete starter box is selling for these days but I think if you can get one even close to the original price they would represent a great deal, assuming you need the figures included and a rulebook.

If you need a rule-book from one of the Starter Sets, let me know.
I have multiple copies of all of the Starter Sets, and would not mind just giving away the rule book to someone who was going to use it.
