Veteran warriors show the horrific burns they sustained in the Magmadroth Peaks, where the banners of eight demon legions were raised over the bodies of the brave. Only the arrival of a stampede of lava-beasts ridden by strange Duardin bought time enough for a few good men to escape.
This bit stood out to me whilst trying to make sense of the new fluff.
Obviously they wouldn't be "chaos" dwarves as they are fighting for Order, not Chaos. But Dwarves on "lava beasts" sounds intriguing all the same and rings some similarities with the fire demons the FW chaos dwarves had.
What do you think?
On a side note there is quite a lot of fluff in the new WD. Basically the blanks between the End Times and AoS are all filled in.
Someone posted a picture that I asked for (look for it) of a dwarf fighting a salamander in the fire realm... maybe "slayers" (hint hint, wink wink) will finely be their own force with a more firery theme and larger firery mohawks...

Ah, the "Red Slayers" then. That's cool!
Do you have a link to that picture?

That is a bad-ass picture. Like... wow. I wish GW did a better job hyping up the artists who produce official work for them because a lot of it is on par with the best fantasy/sci-fi artists in the business. If someone said that was for a new M:TG card called "Raging Angry Burning Dwarf", you'd believe it.

Whoa - is that art actually done for GW? I'm not totally following the train of how you arrived at this bitethythumb, but that is quite cool (although definitely not chaos dwarfs).

There is a whole lot of interesting art in there that will probably make sense in a year's time. This chap is, I think, the Dwarf who died fighting the 'mother of salamanders'; I'm not sure whether he is meant to be the new version of the End Times Incarnate, though.

yup its GW... my train of thought, at the end of "End Times" a certain dwarf slayer got a second axe and become a god... or something like that, I believe that is him... or another one but its clear that he is in the fire realm and the train of thought is that slayers are going to be fire dwarfs separate from the steamhead dwarfs which I assume reside in the metal realm.

I would play Fire Dwarves in a heartbeat.
Outside of Bright Wizards, Warhammer has always lacked fire and needs more.

That picture looks amazing. And the Steamheads sound cool too! I actually wanted to add a gyrocoptor to my Order army. Maybe I'll add a few stunties to it! :-D

IN the current white dwarf in the preview of the book that comes out this week, in the really small text, it talks about Fyreslayers.
So I'm guessing the dwarfs riding lava beasts are the Fyreslayers, based on that artwork of Grimnir fighting the salamander.

interestingly, on the GW website if you filter the products by race and pick Duardin, the HellCannon is right there.

I was flicking through the big fluff book today and say a picture of Dwarf Slayers looking pretty normal except their hair was bright red instead of orange. So maybe they won't all be on fire?
