Subject: GMG Video Battle Report - Age of Sigmar - Stormcast Eternals vs. WtW Tomb Kings
Gotta say, you've really changed your tune on AoS since your first batrep! That one had me pretty worried about the game, whereas this latest one makes me really look forward to my upcoming first game of AoS. And I gotta say, the Stormcast Eternals look killer on the field!

Was great to watch! Another very close game. Sudden death seemed slightly more balanced here than in your last video (where it was down to the last few models anyway), if there had been another turn you'd have been wiped off the board. I've not come from a WHF or even a 40k background (I know how to play, but mainly just from Batreps.. had 2 games of 40k in my life) and AoS seems like pretty good fun but as long as there is some balancing taking place such as the Force Org type method that you use.
Would love to see some more of these, you're the only one really doing then at the moment with the new race(s)!
In terms of game talk, it seems that if the StormCast did not "Deep Strike" in, they wouldn't get anything done since they are all so damned slow (aside the lord and the hammer angels), is it a "formation" that lets them deep strike? If so is the only way to add to it just to increase the unit size? Speaking of Unit size I do think the Liberators would benefit from a couple more models in each squad for sure just to be able to last a bit longer on CC. The two handed hammer guys seem like brilliant fun, but I think do need to swing first since they only have that single save.

Thanks for the report. Good to see Tomb Kings kicking ass! Their real power seems to be in stacking buffs and just not dying in melees, thanks to the banners. I've tried out a pair of Catapults, with a Necrotect nestled between them, and they are just totally useless thanks to only having one shot.
I still don't like the sudden death mechanic, though. It seems just to benefit Stormcasts and Ogres far more than anyone else; and those armies already seem to have plenty of help, what with their toughness

Well without the sudden death, the StormCast would have defiantly been destroyed and lost the game a turn afterwards. The staying power of those Tomb King models was huge.
I think the StormCast "Deep strike" is what makes the sudden death a little easier. I think without that it would be very hard to win.

Sure, but the fact that sudden death helped even the scales in this one particular matchup doesn't make it a good mechanic; and we could suggest that the Tomb Kings rightfully won that game. What Sudden death says is that if your opponent brings eighteen Ironguts and a Stonehorn, and you bring fifty spearmen, then the Ogres are assumed to be at a disadvantage. Which is manifestly a false assumption. It is an inelegant and overly broadly applied mechanic, which doesn't take into account the need for some units to be in large numbers to get their basic rules to activate.
