I know that Khornates are coming in August, and supposedly some Teenzch models as well, but, for now, the initial release seems rather sparse, I can't complain too much, breaking down and buying a core set as well as snatching up extra Empire and Dark Vengeance models has caused me to go over my hobby budget this month, being a teenager pays off yet again, but still. The only "official" way to flesh out the AoS armies is to buy a Liberator box, or to pre-order a Lord-Castellan and his baby griffon. It would seem to me that there ought to be say, a Retributor kit or a box of Bloodreavers available from the get go, or even something like the Dark Vengeance expansion boxes.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that wave one of Age of Sigmar is a bit short on models?

How is it short on models? You can play anything from the fantasy range. It's a new base game, ofcourse it wont have lots of models yet.

Poor ignorant guardsmen, it be but one of many of the great miracles of the Emperor! The Emperor is magic, like Harry Potter, but more magic! A most real and true SPACE WIZARD! And for the last time... I'm not a space plumber.

No, I agree. They really should have a much quicker pace. 3-4 kits a week instead of 1-2.

I wouldnt say its 'slow' so much as it is 'sparse'. Not everyone wants to play Sigmarines, so they either should have launched with a bit more diversity, or intermixed the Sigmar/Khorne stuff each week so that players other than Sigmar would have more options.

Well said, good sir! That is probably a far better way to put it. It's not necessarily that the pace of releases is too bad, it's easy to keep up with if one is a completionist, it's simply that the releases so far have been pretty homogenous. I'd especially think that with AoS's "unbound" nature, they could pop out something from a different faction every few releases with less negative impact than say, if GW had only released Kabalites and Wytches when they brought back DE before doing the next space marine launch prior to putting out Ravagers and such.

Sigmarines are cool and a great starting point for new players... If they realesed new things for the other armies it would most likely anger ye olde gamers and no one would buy it, at least 4 people I know bought AoS for sigmarines to be used in 40k...

Yeah they make great Sanguine Terminators.

If Sigmarites came out at a higher rate as suggested folks would have the right to complain, in this a trickle is better than a flood.

Yubbiebaddabuddaboom? huhhhh?

There are many possible things to complain about Age of Sigmar, but lack of new plastic models is not one of them.

he starter box has TONS of new models. Add the Sigmarite releases, and for the Sigmar's chosen, you have as many new models as any GW new faction. And then there are all those Chaos models in the starter box, and the chaos models to follow, which add up to all the models for TWO new factions.

And of course, you can use all the old models; though admittedly some will work great and others less well with the game.

Really, there are more new models that GW release for Sigmar's 6 week launch window than most other companies are capable of releasing in a year

Yeah, but Khorne has more existing Chaos models that can be used. Sigmarites only had the starter box models. I'm sure as GW gets rolling and pops all the other factions and campaign boxes and books, there will be a big crowd going, "stahhhhhhhp!"

I believe he meant the fact that if you're a sigmarine player you... basically have no options to expand your force. Sure, you can buy another starter, but that's not the same as being able to buy a couple units separately to flesh it out.

In my opinion all the AoS box units should be released within a week after it hit the stores (maybe two weeks) and then non-starter kits should follow. Hell, I believe that the archer/crossbowmen kit should've been released much sooner, because as it is, this army has no shooting whatsoever. Now I know that someone will try to come up with a clever comment like "but chaos mortals have no shooting units at all, why the big fuss!", but it's a moot point as we already know there will be ranged units for sigmarines and we've seen their pictures, so it's deliberately depriving players of an important aspect of their army.

But it's well planned, so no wonder it's happening - buying liberator boxes is less optimal than buying another starter but buying another starter is not optimal either, although it's still more optimal than libbies, so people will buy those sets anyway to have a force that doesn't feel like demo version, bumping up GW's sales.
