A while back I played a good deal of Planetside 2 solo. It was fun, and I liked the whole 'war-sim' aspect of it.
Recently I tried getting back into it but when I try to launch it on steam the little 'Launching Planetside 2' window pops up and then vanishes like when launching a steam game normally, but instead of the PS2 patcher opening I see the outline of the patcher appear for a split second, then vanish. I've tried re-installing and everything but I've no idea what's going on.
Does anyone else have this problem or a simple solution to it? I've googled about but can't find anything. Help please!

I don't play PS2, but I have heard that it does not like Steam at all, and it's a common issue. I found this post on the Daybreak Games forums that seems to have helped some people:
https://forums.daybreakgames.com/ps2/index.php?threads/planetside-2-wont-start-help.192895/ wrote:“First start planetside but DON'T press play
Next Go to your c drive and get into the directory USER, my SOE is installed under Public. Get into the SOE directory where you can see launchpad, planetside2, planetside2_x64 and planetside2_x86.
Rename planetside2_x64 to planetside2_x64xx
then rename planetside2_x86 to planetside2_x64.
Then go back and press play.
Your game will run in 32 bit. I also have to do this every time I play because the 64 bit gives me an error. A total pain that SOE has had so many complaints and still has not fixed the problems with the 64 bit version.”
Note: The file location will vary depending on where you installed the game.
This is the thread I found the above fix in: https://forums.station.sony.com/ps2...run-the-game-again.184264/page-5#post-2787913”

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised. |

Or, skip Steam entirely, and find the .Exe file it runs from.
I don't use it through Steam, so cannot help directly, but the SOE launcher.exe got me back into the game after rebuilding my PC as Windows 10 the other day.

So my problem is that the launcher won't even pop up.
I tried launching through every application I could find in my program files and nuthin. :/

It sounds like it's not the app, but the settings, then.
Check in the Documents folders, and rename/delete/move any Planetside folder you find.
Either that, or right-click the .exes and Run As Administrator.
