Hi all, another old RT era 40k player. I was a Marine player way back in the Rogue Trader era, with all the rules updates from White Dwarf. Mostly played a friend who was sneaky Eldar and then even sneakier Harlequins when they first came out. Also played original Space Hulk, both Epic scale games, Dark Future, Dungeonquest, a little bit of Blood Bowl and a variety of non GW stuff like Battletech and Star Fleet Battles. Dropped out of 40k before second edition came along, in fact one of the last things I remember was the 'new' Mark 7 armour (which I didn't like). Later dropped out of gaming altogether as life happened and didn't have anyone to play with. Gave away most of my old gaming gear as well.

I now have kids, and a couple of years ago I bought an old copy of Space Hulk on ebay so I could play it with my eldest. He then wanted to try 40k and for his 11th birthday I've just got him 7th edition Dark Vengeance, which he loves. so it looks like I might be coming back to the hobby after all these years. things have certainly changed since Rogue Trader!

Come here because I have some questions on the new rules, and while the staff at the local GW shop are very helpful (although I find it a bit depressing that most of them are too young to remember the games I used to play), you sometimes need a non chapter approved answer to stuff. Especially as I can't afford to re-mortgage my house in order to get all GW stuff!

Ere Sarge, what does reconnoitre mean? BLAM. It means getting your head blown off so your mates know where the enemy are.

Hi. Welcome to Dakka. If you have questions you came to the right place, the 40k section has all the answers you'll need.

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."
Space Marine flyers are shaped for the greatest possible air resistance so that the air may never defeat the SPACE MARINES!
Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum
