I want to start with a Death army for WHAoS. The Tomb Kings Battalion box looks great but I have a question.

Are there 40 Skeletons which have the options for spear and shield or are there just 24 with melee weapons and 16 with bows?

Cause the skeleton warriors box has 16 models, but with both options. If there are 40 skeletons with shield and spear it would be perfect!

According to the unboxing video you get enough sprues to make 40 foot skellies with melee weapons out of the box and four sprues with eight bows each making for up to 32 archers, whose bow arms you can also use as bits to make horse archers out of the cavalry units.

If you're going with dead may I suggest buying schtuff from mantic. Super duper cheap and nice sculpts.

As for the Mantic suggestion... it's a solid suggestion. Although I really find their orcs and dwarves terrible (mainly orcs, though - they remind me of the terrible animated/cartoon movie Lord of the Rings), their skeletons are really nice.

I still think that GW's Vampire Counts skellies look better, but it's all subjective and there are some people who want it cheaper, so the mantic skeleton units are a good deal while not really giving up too much on sculpt quality.

So if you're dead set on the egyptian skeleton theme GW's TK are the way to go and if you just want skellies... you can choose from all those three (and probably there are more manufacturers doing skeletons)!

I'll second that the mantic skeletons are quite good for their price. The ghouls and zombies are a bit limited in design, though, and really need some customizing to make them stand out from each other.

YAY I HALP! Yea I love the mantic skellys. Im not a fan of any zombies but mantics are a thousand times better than GW's. GW makes better ghouls though.
