My army list Librarian in Terminator armor with Storm Bolter, FotD, FotA Retinue of 4 terminators (2 assault cannons) Terminator squad w/tank hunter (2 assault cannons) Tac squad (9) man w/vet sgt (pfist), 2 plasma guns Drop Pod Tac squad (8) man w/vet sgt (pfist), 2 plasma guns Drop Pod Tac squad (8) man w/vet sgt (pfist), 2 Melta guns Drop Pod Tac squad (8) man, 2 Melta guns Drop Pod 2 Landspeeder Tornado 2 Landspeeder Tornado 1 Landspeeder Tornado
Game 1 vs David Fink (Chaos) Can't remember the mission. It was one where only compulsory troops and 1 HQ can be deployed. It's not the unplanned assult one though. Well, I was really rusty since I haven't played the DP list in about 6 months. I'm in the 40K challenge board at my FLGS and am running Feral Orks so my tactics got really messed up. I decided to drop right in front of his army and try to outshoot him in one turn. Well it worked a bit, but when his big bloodthirster and 200+ pts daemon prince showed up they just munched through units. I ended up with a loss. Wow, that game really taught me something. I really need to look at my opponent's army list more carefully and plan better. But with one loss I was pretty sure I wasn't going to win the tourney so I'm much more relaxed for the rest of my games. Game 2 vs John T. (Sisters) John played a bit defensive, but then again most people do that against DPs anyway. He spread his army out in a line and I knew that was a big mistake. He had one exorcist on each flank. I dropped one melta squad to take out each of them. They were throw aways anyways. The rest of my army went for one flank. Well, the other flank's exorcist survived my bad dice rolls. I was able to munch through about 80% of his army and came out with a win. Game 3 vs Frank Jimenez (Space Wolves) This mission was one of the old one from 3rd edition. I forgot what it was called, but both sides roll strategy ratings and the winner can choose to be attacker or defender. The defender deploys in the middle of the board that's 24" by 24". Only troops and heavies can be deployed and at least one troop choice must be deployed. My opponent won the roll. He must have been kinda tired after 2 games since he chose to be the defender ??!!?? The last time I played this one it was all in the attacker's favor. Well, basically I dropped in on turn 2 and proceeded to shoot him up. His forces trickled in along with mine, but space wolves really lack firepower and I just shot him to pieces. He did get a couple units in HTH, but my Pfist guys took care of them. This was a victorious slaughter for me. Game 4 vs Carl Bellatti (Ravenwing) Carl is always a good opponent. He had 18 bikes, 3 attack bikes, and 6 landspeeder tornadoes !!. He actually had more tornadoes than me. Unfortunately for Carl I dropped everyone except 1 tac squad on Turn 2. After the shooting was done he lost about 60% of his forces and all the speeders were either stunned or destroyed. We finished the game in less than an hour... Another victorious slaughter for me. Game 5 vs Monty Hud (Thousand Sons) Monty was from Huntsville. Good guy, but a bit wrong on some rules in my opinion... He deployed all his forces in a corner. I dropped in one melta gun squad to try to take out his defiler. All I managed to do was to take out two weapons. My assault cannons started shooting up predators. I managed to take out 2 weapons on one predator and immobilized the other one. His terminators came in via a teleport homer. He shot up some of my termies. He also moved up a rhino, deployed some guys and took out my melta squad. My turn I shot up some of his termies and the deployed troops. Basically through out the whole game I just tried to stay out of his assault range and shoot him up. Last turn his big nasty demon prince charge my termies and wiped them out. He rolled a 2 and failed to connect with one of my squad 3 inches away. Mr. demon prince then faced 4 assault cannons, 4 heavy bolters, and 2 plasma guns. He poofed after that. The only rule contention we had was about casualty removal. I maintained that multi-wound squads must remove whole models. His TS squads all have 2 wounds each, but the sorcerer that leads them has only one wound. Well, I couldn't find the pertaining text very quickly so I gave that to him. I also incorrectly assumed that since he didn't have to roll for his psychic power I couldn't use my psychic hood (this fact he kept to himself until after the game). I was hit by lots of "Wind of Change". Basically it's a flamer template that wounds on 4+ and you get no save except Inv saves. Well, luckily I still beat him Major victory for me.

He was right on the rules issue. When you have a unit of several mulitple wound models you have to remove those models whole, not all models, when possible. It's a subtle wording, but it's there.

Nice report. Carl bought his Jade Raven Wing out of retirement? He is one of if not the funnest opponant I have ever played against. I sure hope he shows up for Bayou Battles.

Really? I thought the ruling on Dakka was that single wound models in a multi wound unit must be removed if there are odd number of wounds. Hmmm... Well, nevermind then...

Terrain was nearly non-existant. Just as I expected. There were about 5 to 6 pieces of terrain. Each piece is about 6 inches long and maybe 4 inches wide. The rules for all terrain is that they are Size 3. This makes it much easier for the organizer to rule on.

Yep, I've known Carl for quite a few years. I think the first time I faced him was back in 2001 or so... Right before my first GT at Dallas. Most of the armies at the tourney were either Marines or Chaos Marines. There were: 1 Dark Eldar Player 2 Eldar Players (1 dropped after the first day) 2 Tau Players 1 Tyranid Player No Imperial Guard, No Orks, No Necrons. Go figure...

Don't you know that a squad with two wounds each has a lot going for it?

Pretty sure he can still take the one wound model last, just as long as he only ever has 1 "wounded" model in the squad at a time, once he takes a wound on a multiwound model then the rest of the wounds must go into that model untill it is dead.

It specifically says, "must remove whole multi-wound models". The AC leading the squad is not a multi-wound model, therefore he doesn't have to be removed.
Also, you are right about the Physic Hood thing, he automatically passes his tests, but that means he does take them and his powers are subject to the hood.
