After the recent update for Space Dock (an app for building Attack Wing Squads), and after speaking with a lot of you regarding things that have been done wrong, I am going to attempt to rebuild the game from the ground up, starting with ship stats and costs.

My plan is to begin by adjusting the stats of the ships to more accurately reflect the ships themselves, then apply an improved point cost calculation formula. I plan to take into account the ships' special abilities, stats, firing arcs, and their dials. I will eventually work in to tackling the various upgrades, Captains, and Admirals.

I will continue to post updates here, as well as take constructive criticism and suggestions.

Generally speaking, ships have gotten more expensive.

The formula is:

((Firepower+Agility+Hull+Shields+1 point for ability)x2)+((Green Manuevers/Green Manuevers+Red Manuevers)x2)+2 points for a rear arc+ 2 points for 180 forward arc, 4 points for 360, 0 points for 90 degree arc= total Squadron points.

in a previous post here on dakka much for what you said in your formula mimics what was there as well

may I suggest this:

Primary weapon: additional point for every point over 4
Evade: by size small Defiant class to NX series max 3, medium size max 2, large 1, super ships (scimitar neghvar etc 0 evade)
Hull: additional point for every point over 4
Shields: additional point for every point over 4

Ship Actions: all combat/military vessels should have evade manuvers, TL, battle stations, scan.....additional points for cloak (which grants echo) +2 points

named ships and abilities needs addressed...+2 additional if it grants for a free action or multiple abilities. example Ning-tao free sensor echo, or Reklar +1 defence and battle stations its an action but grants multiple abilities.

Captian skill, ability, and his cost: needs to be addresed example Picard (boxed set) is far too cost effective at 9 skill and free action

I am aiming for more accurate representation of the ships thematically (the Akira was COMPLETELY overhauled), but I do intend to adjust for point cost regarding the abilities.

I based the formula off of the current one, but added to it. as it stands, ships that haven't had their stats adjusted have seen an increase of about 4 points in the named and 2 points in the generic on average...

That said, some ships have ended up significantly more cost heavy: The Unique Tactical Cubes are now about 52 points, and the USS Enterprise E is 42 points. The Generic Scimitar is 40 points now, as opposed to the 36 points of original cost.

I want to play test these new stats and adjustments before I begin mucking about with the formula too much; that said, I do like the idea of increasing point value of stats after they exceed a certain threshold. It makes sense, but were you thinking that ships with less than said threshold should pay 2 SP per point in the stats? Or were you thinking grant them a mild discount?

It has some good points, and I will look into encorporating them after I get some playtesting done. My biggest disappointment is HOW much more expensive ships are now. It kinda puts a damper on big fleet battles.
