The Age of Sigmar hardbacks have a whole bunch of Battleplans that basically play through a three pronged assault on the Realms of Fire, Life and Metal. Having been going through the novels, I have a healthy interest in playing these Battleplans through with forces representative of what took place in the books - no proxying, no unpainted models, just a nice spectacle on the tabletop.

This means painting up a bunch of models before each battle. The plus side is that, after this campaign is complete, I'll have several very respectable forces.

Anyway, rather than just adopting a scatter gun approach, which is pretty much what I have been doing up to now, I sat down and worked out what sort of models I would like to see in each battle. To my mind, judging by eye, these forces should be fairly balanced and lead to some exciting battles, so I figured they may be useful to anyone else playing through - simply swap units in and out to match your own collection (by all that is Holy, don't do what I am doing and try to collect - and paint - them all!).

Realm of Fire

Hold or Die
Goretide: Bloodreavers x 40, Khorgorath, Exalted Deathbringer
Stormcast: Lord-Celestant, Lord-Castellant, Gryph-Hound, Liberators x 20, Paladins x 13, Judicators x 10, Lord-Relictor, Vandus, Prosecutors x 3

The Watchtower
Goretide: Skull Keep, Bloodreavers x 20, Bloodcrushers x 6, Bloodletters x 20, Bloodsecrator
Stormcast: Lord-Celestant, Lord-Castellant, Lord-Relictor, Gryph-Hound, Liberators x 20, Paladins x 13, Judicators x 10, Vandus, Prosecutors x 3

The Ritual
Goretide: Bloodreavers x 40, Blood Warriors x 25, Bloodletters x 20, Khul, Bloodstoker
Stormcast: Lord-Celestant, Lord-Castellant, Lord-Relictor, Gryph-Hound, Liberators x 30, Paladins x 23, Judicators x 20, Vandus, Knight-Azyros, Knight-Venator, Prosecutors x 9

Realm of Life

The Trap
Rotbringers: Blightmage, Blightkings x 10, Chaos Warriors x 25, Plaguebearers x 12 (summoned)
Sylvaneth: Tree Lord x 2, Tree Lord Ancient, Branchwraith, Dryads x 32

Breakthrough
Rotbringers: Chaos Lord, Blightkings x 10, Chaos Warriors x 30
Stormcast: Lord-Celestant, Lord-Castellant, Gryph-Hound, Liberators x 20, Paladins x 13, Judicators x 10, Knight-Azyros, Prosecutors x 6

Pre-Emptive Strike
Rotbringers: Great Unclean One, Plaguebearers x 20, Nurglings x 9, Plague Drones x 6
Pestilens: Verminlord Corruptor, Plague Monks x 40, Plague Priest, Plague Censer Bearers x 5, Plagueclaw
Stormcast: Lord-Celestant, Lord-Castellant, Lord-Relictor, Gryph-Hound, Liberators x 30, Paladins x 23, Judicators x 20, Knight-Azyros, Prosecutors x 9
Sylvaneth: Tree Lord x 2, Tree Lord Ancient, Branchwraith, Dryads x 32

Note, this is the battle where, in the novel, the Rotguard are summoned - comprising seven Great Unclean Ones. Yeah, probably won't be doing that! As it is, I do not much like the metal Great Unclean One, so this battle is going to go unplayed until a) they bring out a plastic greater daemon or b) I find a Forge World one going cheap - anyone wanting to sell?

Realm of Metal

Sudden Assault
Bleak Horde: Chaos Sorcerer on Disc, Chaos Warriors x 30, Chaos Knights x 10
Stormcast: Lord-Castellant, Gryph-Hound, Liberators x 20, Judicators x 10

Storm the Walls
Bleak Horde: Skull Keep, Walls x 6, Chaos Sorcerer on Disc, Chaos Warriors x 30, Chaos Knights x 10
Stormcast: Lord-Celestant, Lord-Castellant, Gryph-Hound, Liberators x 20, Paladins x 23, Judicators x 20

That done, I can then start on the Quest for Ghal-Maraz and then Chaos Dreadhold (sob!). At leastm after going through the above, I should have enough models to do all the Battleplans in the forthcoming Stormcast book!

Happy to hear any comments on balance/units I have missed or erroneously included.
