Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

Group 1: 6 Orders, 2 Irregular, 1 Impetuous

USA Grunt with Light Grenade Launcher(Lieutenant)
USA Grunt Paramedic
USA Grunt
Minuteman with rifle + 2 light flamethrowers
Marauder with Rifle and Heavy Flamethrower
Foxtrot with Sniper Rifle and Anti-personal mines
Devil Dog with Heavy Shotgun and K9 Anti-pode
Warcor

Group 2: 4 Orders, 1 Irregular

Maverik Forward Observer
Dozer with MUL control device
2 Traktor MULs with Katyusha MRLs

What sort of tactics and pitfalls should I keep in mind? I've got the idea that I should deploy the Devil Dog so that he's taking as little fire as possible when he advances using Impetuous. Should I make someone else my Lieutenant?

It's not bad for a first list.

You have 3 different types of specialists so you can accomplish most missions.
You are a little light on them for ITS missions in which you need to get objectives, but it's still doable if you can protect them.
You have 4 different models which could be your LT, so it's not exactly going to be obvious who the LT is.

Honestly, I would swap that Foxtrot out for either a Rifle, BSG, or LGL model. With an infiltrator, you want weapons that will have their good range bands within a move of the enemy models.
The sniper rifle you want to be kept back to take advantage of it's good long range +3 range band. If you infiltrate forward you're putting yourself in a position to be in Zero or negative range bands quickly.
If you're just using it because you have the model and want to try it, I suggest just using it to get a good position on the edges outside your deployment to take advantage of range bands.

You have good backfield coverage with the flamers, an a couple fast units with the K9 and Maverick.
Utilize the smoke on either the bike or the K9 team to block LOS so you can advance for the other.
Last, you have a good amount of Speculative fire with the Traktors, and they provide some orders if you aren't using them to fire in Active turn.
