So, I'm giving my old GK army to my best friend as his first 40k army. Being a die-hard chaos player, I'll admit I'm a bit out of my league building a loyalist list.

I think the Nemesis Strike Force seems a good way to organize the GKs he already has, but I'm not 100% sold on giving up ObSec on them yet...

I know to change out almost all the psicannon on non-relentless models for psilencers or, in the case of Interceptors, incinerators. But would having a unit of 10 Purifiers with 4 Psicannon be any good if combat squad-ed out to provide one static heavy weapons squad, and one more aggressive squad while both generating warp charges?

With regards to allied detachments my main question is, in addition to a Knight LoW (thinking the dakka-heavy Knight Crusader w/ Icarus cannon is probably the best), which other formations would really help him out?

Been looking at possibly a Librarius Conclave from either Dark Angels, or C:SM. Of these two which is better? DA get access to the (seemingly) awesome Interromancy, while vanilla SM get all the BRB powers.

Any-and-all input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

I wouldn't do that with purifiers. They're pretty awesome just getting close-up and casting Cleansing Flame.

The big weakness of GK is long range shooting. I think allying in something to fill that gap is probably better than more expensive Psyker characters.

Centstar utilizes the nemesis strike force and Draigo and allies in all kinds of expensive psychers for silliness

Strong army imo

There's good advice about running GKs here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/663143.page#8111373

Note that if you're running the NSF you don't have to run an allied detachment, you can take NSF alongside a CAD.

I've found a supplement for GKs is a SM allied detachment, I've had some success with either Tigurius or Loth, a scout squad, and 3 grav centurions in a drop pod. Helps out your alpha-strike and takes some heat off your dreadknights.

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.
