Our group is playing an Only War campaign, this time as the crew of a Leman Russ. Still in the brainstorm stage, no pen to paper, but just a few things I'd like to discuss.

[1] Which works better for a group with around 3-4 players, playing as the commander of each separate tank in a Squadron? Or as the individual crew of a single tank 'Fury' style?

[2] Should the players get to choose which variant Leman Russ, or is the standard Battle Cannon a solid choice?

[3] How would modifying sponsons and hull weapons work? Can a crew even have them modified for specific missions?

[4] What are some good ideas/events/foes that a Tank focused campaign could include?

[5] If someone wants to play as a tech-priest, how would that work in a front-line scenario?

[6] Should the possibility of a Baneblade prize be dangled in front of them, or is it better to foster love for their own vehicles (Like Knight-Commander Pask)?

The Emperor Protects, but a ceramite hull doesn't hurt.

Cheers.

Really depends on how you want the game to go, really. If you want it to be more like Das Boot, then keep it to 1 tank, where every PC has a vital role to play in keeping it running and combat operational.

If you want something a bit more open, then make each PC their own tank commander, and maybe open up the "sidekick" rules a bit for those characters to have more than 1 (in this case, the rest of the crew of the tank). Which, of course, you can kill off in the course of battles to punish/reward the group (maybe some have bonuses and others have penalties to their roles? Aiming, shooting, navigation, etc.)

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

That should answer all your questions - and personally I'd favour the 1 tank focused campaign they describe.

Cheers, fellas! That link looks to be a goldmine.

Still undecided whether this will be a Squadron or a single noble steed, but I am personally leaning towards the latter. I'll have to see what we can do with the guy interested in playing a Techpriest.

Would all the party (in a single tank) be taking the Operator class, or would the commander be leaning more sergeant ways?
