I sold my CSM Emperor's Children a little while ago for several reasons but I am now planning a new CSM Emperor's Children army. Are there any rumors or recent changes as of the last 6 months that I should keep in mind? Thank you ahead of time!

Take a look into FW's imperial armour 13. It hase units that make CSM much more viable. As to future rumors, nothing really nailed down but I would guess end of this year or early next year befor CSM might get a new codex.

A new CSM dex is rumoured after the Tau one, though it might be Tzeentch daemonkin. That's about it.

Id wait patiently.

There are rules for sonic dreds in IA13, and Emperors Children have a full rule set in the HH books. Which is actually really good.

Tzeentchkin has been "rumored" as an upcoming release for April/May/June/July/August/Sept/Octauber/Nov/Dec of this entire freaking year, and yet, all the main rumor sources keep saying the same thing - It's. Not. Happening. (at least, not this year according to Sad Panda...)

The upcoming releases that we 100% know and/or have rumors for currently are;
Octauber: 4 weeks of Tau stuff, including 4-5 new kits + codex.
Nov: Horus Heresy box/board game.
Dec: probably the usual Xmas types boxes of army deals and/or terrain.

We also have rumors of IG coming up soon, as well as rumors about Genesneaker Cults & Deathwatch Marines. The ONLY things we know for sure about Chaos is that both Harry & Hastings have confirmed that all 4 Greater Daemons have finished plastic kits and are awaiting release. (of which we're had the 'Thirster so far released)


TL/DR; The only whispering about a new Chaos codex of any kind are just wishlisting and the crushed hopes & dreams of Chaos players themselves.

If I could give you any advice it'd be use the Horus Heresy Emperor's Children army. It'll give you so much more flavour if you're a fluff bunny. You'll get to use cool units like Phoenix Guard, Kakophoni and Fulgrim as well as some cool chapter tactics-esque rules for being EC.

I can't help but feel that GW considers Khorne Daemonkin enough of a CSM update for some time, if a new CSM codex comes out it'll either have different points or statlines to those found in Daemonkin which will irritate a lot of players, or KD is indicative of GW's vision for the future of CSM. But I could be wrong, GW are pretty unpredictable.

If you have your heart dead set on using the current CSM codex, expect difficult games of you can't patch the holes in the book with Forge World. I can personally recommend the Sonic Dreadnoughts.
