One thing I'm loving is the freedom to create different kinds of armies in AoS.
Mixing models from different factions is best done, I think, when a colour scheme is the same throughout. I've seen a few armies like that now and they look awesome.
Right now my favourite project is a Khorne army I'm working on, consisting of:
Mighty Lord of Khorne
Bloodsecrator
Bloodstoker
20x Bloodreavers
5x Blood Warriors (but want to make this 15)
10x Warhounds
20x Bloodletters
3x Bloodcrushers
35x Clanrats
20x Gors
Khorgorath
And I'm looking to get monsters/rat ogres etc in there eventually, wondering if I want other daemons. However, that would break the Khorne theme a little.
They're all being done in the same dark red scheme and fire bases.
Are you working on a Grand Alliance or otherwise themed army?

I have started running elf and/or empire wizards with my stormcast eternals (they are humans, dwarfs, orcs, and elves after all!!).
I also run a chaos army that usually uses all four chaos gods. It usually is headed by my trusty archaon, other secondary chaos characters, demon troops (mostly khorne, slaneesh, nurgle), and demon cavalry.
They synergize well and are pretty fluffy.

I have been running death and destruction using vampires/tomb kings and ogres, the butcher's maw goes well with the undead.

Oh, I remember the glorious times of old Chaos, where everything could be taken to fight for the Gods - even orks and skeletons!
It would be very fun to have actual orks worshipping Khorne and painting themselves in red.
As for myself, I'm more in the Order side. So far, it's something like that;
1 Lord Celestant on Dracoth
1 Lord Castellan
1 Lord Relictor
3 Angelos
3 Retributor
15 Liberators
5 Judicators
1 Runelord
1 Dwarf Engineer
1 Thane with Battlestandard
1 Dragon Slayer
10 Iron Drakes
15 Iron Breakers
10 Hammerers
5 Gyrocopters
Duardins and Stormcast are visually very interesting together. They have the hammers in common, after all.
I also have some Elves, but since they're Dark Elves, I don't know...they're kinda not blending with the others. Technically, I could, but it doesn't feel right to me.

I play an Order army with a sprinkle of Death.
Empire, High Elves, Dwarfs and Vampire counts mixed together. (See my signature for pics).
The idea is they are a band of misfits and Desperados operating out of Azyrheim. Elves, Dwarves and Humans all live in that city, so that's fine - and as Nagash opened up the lore of Undeath in the End Times I figured there would still be human practitioners in the future. No Death units start except my human Necromancer, they all have to be summoned.
Doesn't stop people calling my army unfluffy though... guess they are still living in the world-that-was :-)

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-) |

There was a mixed Order army I was planning which I'm mostly holding off on for now until the fluff is expanded to reveal what happened to the majority of the elves, but I do still plan on building a similar force in the future.
The basic backstory is an army formed from the remnants of a human and dwarf city founded near a realmgate in the realm of shadow (Ulgu). Considering the realm of shadow is likely the domain of Malerion (and I assume the future home of the dark elves), the city slowly gains dark elf citizens forming a bizarre mix of the three cultures. Then Nagash sends an army of death through the realmgate to take territory in Ulgu which leads to him to kill large swathes of the population to raise as reinforcements. The remnants of that village form the Grim March, a guerrilla army deep within the realm of death resigning themselves to die having killed more undead than the population of their former home.
So far the list is:
2 Dragon Slayers
Grimm Burloksson
10 Iron Drakes
10 Hammerers
10 Long Beards
20 Thunderers
1 Dark Elf Sorceress
1 Dreadlord
10 Har Ganeth Executioners
5 Doomfire Warlocks
5 Cold One Knights kitbashed w/ repeater handguns (proxied as Empire Outriders)
10 Darkshards kitbashed w/ handguns (proxied as State Handgunners)
1 Empire General
40 Flagellants (in two 20 man units)
1 Steam Tank
The only thing that disappoints me is Sorceresses can only sacrifice dark elf models, so I can't use her to enrage my flagellants.

I guess I could take my lizardmen and elves and make an order army. Phoenix guard screened by skink skirmishers? Hammer and anvil style with fast cavalry, a bastiladon and temple guard? Not sure yet.
Even less sure what the story would be. Would the lizardmen (seraphon, whatever) be all like, "Hey elves, you seem to be having trouble down there. Why don't you kick it up here in space with us a while"?

Well, the Seraphon seem to be strongly affiliated with light magic and Tyrion is the incarnate of light.
You can make it a power of the light themed army with Seraphon and high elves painted in white and gold colors to represent their unity as they've been given a mission by their respective lords that the realms must be cleansed.
My own force is a mix of Bretonnians, Stormcasts and some Wood elves.
I'm making a Bretonnian knight for each realm.
