So, I'm bored at work and don't have my cards. I want to run an IG-88 based list, using A and B with the IG-2000 card (free!) that gives them access to each other's abilities-2 ships sharing two awesome abilities. Should I plan on Heavy Laser Turrets and maybe PTL? Or is it worth having a Z-95 sneak in for an extra couple shots. Like I said, I'm bored without cards, and thought maybe someone who has run a twin IG list would like to offer pointers.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Most lists I see run B and C, heavy on the upgrades. Both tend to be upgraded identically.

Mangler Cannon (to take advantage of B's ability)
Push the Limit or Predator
Advanced Sensors
Autothrusters
Glitterstims

Yep. The brobot type list won the tournament I recently attended, and while I don't play it myself, or see the upgrades, it prompted me to play with the format to figure it out.

My first attempt was B and C, Predator, HLC, Autothrusters and FCS, it did OK, but didn't quite click for me, so I revised it to almost exactly what CC listed, other than I've gone for Inerital Dampers over Glitterstim and currently have a two point bid (IIRC, have it on a builder, haven't looked before posting.)

I am pretty sure on running A. With only two ships in the list, the ability to heal is near crucial to me. Especially in my local. Mangled cannon looks good, I had been thinking HLT due to pesky TIEs at range 3 who wouldn't be getting a bonus defense die. But saving points to out towards other upgrades is a reasonable switch.

I don't think IG-88A's ability is as good as C's, but if you're deadset on running with him, try this:

IG-88B (36)
Predator (3)
Advanced Sensors (3)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Inertial Dampeners (1)
Autothrusters (2)
IG-2000 (0)

IG-88A (36)
Predator (3)
Advanced Sensors (3)
Ion Cannon (3)
Inertial Dampeners (1)
Autothrusters (2)
IG-2000 (0)

Total: 100

Don't get me wrong, I like ALL the IG options. Lol. I just think having some shield regen on an already dirty ship was kind of a cruelty to my friends. My first thought had been to have one of the HLT and a 1-3 range cannon. But that becomes a lot of price in just the weapons, and we'll all know weapon load out alone doesn't win this game.

Remember it isn't impossible that the shield regen could net you a total of 2 shields against some lists.

I also think you're underestimating how hard to hit a 3AG ship with Autothrusters and the Evade action really is.

Sure, a few shields may make a difference once in a while, but I just don't see it happening enough to make a difference.

They work best with cannons and if you have have B, there is no reason not to take a cannon on each of them. The shield regeneration is nice to have, but if you are flying against a two ship list (as is common these days), it's kind of wasted. That's why most people stick with B and C, the gunner ability is awesome against high agility ships and the action economy is nice with the free evade (it can get even better with Push the Limit and Advanced Sensors because you can do three actions and end your movement with no stress).

Both good points. I will definitely try it out. In my group, I'm really the only guy running big ships. The other guys tend towards 3-4 smaller ships usually.

Well to be fair, the Aggressor isn't really a big ship... for all intents and purposes, it's a small ship on a big ship base.

It has the same health as a B-wing and Y-wing and the agility of an E-wing and most types of TIE fighters.

Brobots can be a very effective squad and I've been reasonably successful with them in highly competative environments. That being said, they certainly aren't easy mode. I tend to favour B and C. The increase in both offensive and defensive power is greatly welcomed. The key to winning with Brobots is your action economy and flying well. They dominate at range 3 engagements where they can leverage their 3 actions, no stress and defensive bonuses. The challenges come when you close to range 2 and 1. In heavy traffic, with dense asteroids and a savvy opponent effectively blocking you, you can be denied your boost opportunities and be possibly left with no enemies in fire arc. I my experience, when flying large based ships armed with cannons (Firesprays), it can be difficult to get fast and maneuverable enemy ships in your forward fire arc. You tend to have a great approach run but then after you fly past them it can be hard to turn around and engage. Brobots have an easier time than most however, with boost and S-Loops.

I'm really considering running the one too who can do a red hard-3 turn around. The options with that AND being able to double tap with secondaries is also foul. Has anyone had luck with IG 2000D?

I think "D" is really the IG-88 who suffers most from their middling PS. I've seen it used, but it seems to be the third choice for pretty much everyone.

I imagine B is the top choice. That just seems to be hands down the best one. Bumping him up to PS8 could make the difference. Especially since PTL isn't going to be as useful with a nasty plan that causes him to stress a lot.

Is there a scum ship that steals stress tokens like the imperial shuttle does?
