Been toying with this idea since a lot of people are against summoning. Let me know what you think?
My idea is to go back to wfb's spells that return models back to units and add on to them instead of making new units.
Ok, so taking, let's say, Summon Skeletons; 5+ casting value to set up a unit of 10 Skeleton Warriors (20 if roll is 10+). So what I'm thinking is to change it to something like...
"Raise Skeletons, 5+ casting value to add D6 models to a unit of Skeleton Warriors (2d6 if roll is 10+)
Sort of like how Ushabti and Tomb Scorpions have it.
If it's something like Summon Terrorgheist spell it's changed to something like...
"Insert Appropriate Name Here, 6+ casting value, pick a friendly Terrorgheist model and heal it for D3 wounds (D6 if roll is 10+).
Sort of like how the Necrosphinx has it.
So if the summoning spell sets up a unit of 10+ models you add D6 to a unit of said models instead. If it's 5+ it's D3/D6.
For something like, let's say Vargheists, you would instead add 1 model to the unit on a 6+ and D3 on a 11+.
If it's to summon a monster you half the casting value of the original spell (10+ would be 5+) to heal the unit for D3 (D6 if you roll double the casting value).
Do you think this would cause more problems then summoning does now or would it be a good alternative?
