Zombies are pretty much worthless in Mordheim. Poor stats, no exp, slow and they bulk up your warband significantly. Max out on Direwolves instead.

Armour is not worth taking unless you are playing with house rules that make it better.

If you want to take a real undead horde you could try my Warband. Obviously completely unofficial but it seems balanced given its performance in my club's campaign.

I'd loose the armour, vampire don't need it especially against starter warbands.

Max out Dirwolves, this is a must. The 18" Slavering charge is one of the undeads best offensive weapons, great for taking out isolated opponents. Dire Wolves are also the only thing that will keep up with the vampire unless you employ an Ogre.

Bows on Necromancer and Dregs. I also give the dregs a club or mace but that's it. The dregs and Necro should advance behind a zed screen. I disagree that zeds are poor, true they are on their own but as a group they are vital. Their rules make then a bit toothless but they keep getting back up and can soon drag down opponents at which point the dregs charge in and take the kill/xp.

This more what you mean. dire wolves back up the Vampire while the dregs, necro and ghoul use the Zombies as a meat shield. (the ghouls there for a chance at hero No. 6 to increase my shard collecting chances.

Yeah that's it.

I used a warband similar to this in our last campaign. The only difference was that I also had an ogre bodyguard for the Vampire. Ogres are otherwise a bit over costed but synergies really well with a Vampire. Having 4 hard hitting units moving so fast really puts allot of warbands on the back foot with early charges, rapid flanking and picking off units that your opponent thought were otherwise safe. The zeds catch up sooner or later.

Once your opponents start getting used to that then get Sprint for the Vampire and laugh as a your souped up killing machine starts hitting from even further out.
