Hi can't see any earlier thread so I will kick this off with what I learned. I spoke to literally everyone there apart from Jes Bickham. I learned many things!
- There is a new type of dreadnought called a leviathan. It is like a contemptor on steroids. It is about the same height as a deredeo but really bulky with huge plates and massive limbs. It is a siege variant so has a petard, a big crushing claw and a siege drill (that I saw) as options. It is @£46 for the body and £13 per arm. I was offered one when I went in, it was so secret that the guy had no photos only a vague description, so I turned it down!
- There is another new type of dreadnought. It was not shown but it was announced at the FW seminar. It was a contemptor variant called a cortus or similar. I spoke to the FW designer and he said it is a contemptor that is made with cheaper, easier to procure components, as if during the HH it becomes impossible to produce more contemptors. I couldn't get any more from him!
- FW have redone Doom of Mymeara. It contains a full Eldar corsair army list which is pretty extensive. To go with this there are new kits. There is an add-on to jet bikes to make them corsair jet bikes with a new weapon I could not identify, sonic cannon perhaps? There are new FW variant kits for wraithknight, a fusion cannon (iirc) and shadoweavers as guns, plus a new head, new shoulder plates and big back fins like the corsair guardian upgrades. Saw the stats but did not have time to memorise them. The corsair army is tailored to the warlord who can be built from a number of options.
- FW have done and will imminently release Raven Guard Furies and Alpha Legion headhunters.
- No new primarch at the event, none imminent. I tried to get something from Simon Egan but he wasn't telling. He did confirm they are working on them. The only things he said were: that they knew they had to finish the ones who had rules but no models and also that he was working on one and had been for ages but could not get it right. No further information.
- HH book 6 will contain some details of Blood Angels and Dark Angles BUT not full rules. It has rules for knights errant and shattered legions, plus blackshields. Shattered legions will let you build up forces made from several legions thus combining legion rites of battle.
- New tau fire warriors are chunkier but broadly the same, they have much bigger armoured plates especially on the legs so are bulkier in look.
- New Black Library books incoming: War Without End (Varioous Authors) another short story collection I guess and Pharos (Guy Haley). Pharos had some Imperial Fists and Ultrasmurfs fighting Night Lords at the base of a mountain with a glowing summit.
- Garro is imminent and is posed standing on a fallen possessed legionnaire. Model looked poor in the photos but the real thing in the cabinet was much better. Really nice sculpt.
- Solar Auxilia storm section cc guys with axes incoming.
- Horus Heresy Model Masterclass Book 1 incoming.
- Perhaps unnoticed but apparently when codeces go for reprint or into e-format they do make changes to rules that were wrong etc. The most recently published version is the correct one.
- Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh and two amazing revelations!
1. GW do have a mathematical formula for points values but it is only a basis not set in stone.
2. They do playtest. They have a panel who playtest for 3-4 weeks "in an undisclosed location"...

Hurr! Ogryn Bone 'Ead!

3-4 weeks seems pretty short when your trying to balance a game as large as 40k, unless that's not the reason they playtest things.

Then they need to fire their play testers or actually listen to them.
Moar Bigger models? Not surprised.

As it is always with QA, they may be playtesting, but who knows if anyone listens or cares?

I wonder if the panel realized that most people don't believe they play test anything or play test enough or in the right way?
Did they ever admit that there's a problem with balance?

For a " GW Open Day", it sure is disappointing how yet again, we seem to get more of a "Forgeworld Open Day & GW Closed Day"...
