Spoiler:

Seems to be incredibly durable, even for a vehicle. Base weapons are 2 meltas, and 2 heavy flamers, and some major damaging melee, in the form of "severing cut". Almost as if they wanted it to be "not D" D.

With just one Leviathan storm cannon, he is in superheavy price range, which is the problem for me. He does have the benefit of not being a LoW I guess, if your area or tournament doesn't allow them.

He almost looks to be a "Knight-light" to me in stats.

Maybe I'm just looking for someone to talk me into buying one.

It needs 4 base attacks and Chapter Tactics. Other than that, it looks pretty damn awesome model wise. Either gun fulfills a decent role, so I'm wanting the 4 base attacks for that reason.

Yeah, dropping to 3 attacks if you take a gun does kind of hurt. Without stomp he is he easy to tarpit..and expensive.

Can you stuff it in a drop pod? Otherwise it's 300 points of slow moving waddle bot.

Edit: 325 points to give it two storm cannons. 360 if it can ride in a pod. Sigh... It's just to expensive points wise to be really worth it.

Cool model though.

correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the leviathan dread is just for legion crusade lists? (If I'm wrong, and I want to be, more dreadnoughts are awesome, tell me.)

I'm judging this off of 40k stuff though.

Model looks fantastic- I love the contemptor pseudo facade they built into it (real dreadnoughts have curves ) and if nothing else, I'll be picking it up to use as a contemptor.

The cost of it is extremely prohibitive though- almost 300 base. That's a large commitment, though it being incredibly tough.(12 on the back 4 hp is groovy) it's not a super heavy so a las cannon can and will pop it :/ it's a powerful melee powerhouse able to deal up to 8 hull points on a super heavy if your incredibly lucky, but for your price you could almost get 3 base dreadnoughts that just rip and tear through stuff.

It looks great, rules arnt the end all be all though. Will be picking it up.

It has a 40k variant. The forge world thread has the rules in news and rumours.

Somehow GW found a way to make dreadnoughts uglier.

I don't see how they're ugly, Dreadnought's aren't supposed to be pretty, they're dead people inside hulking machines of war. Since when was SM stuff meant to be pretty?

Also remember that these are EXPERIMENTAL RULES, not the final ones.

It is a Walker that wants to be a Imperial Knight.

I like the rules for the most part but the upgrades that would be the only reason to take it for (Storm Cannon) are far too expensive. Otherwise the glaring weakness is that well... it is a walker and only moves 6 inches a turn.

Maybe you can put it in a pod? It is a 'dreadnought' after all.

You are best off with a siege drill on one arm and a siege flaw in the other. It lets you decide what to use based on the situation. Those siege class are mean though. Each wound doing +d3 is crazy. The sad thing is this guy costs as much as a super heavy, but doesn't have any of the benefits.

Also I'm wondering why the feth the rules didn't give CSM permission to take it in their lists.

I've been brainstorming for a while on him, and he seems to be in an odd place. He really needed superheavy rules I think for his price, particularly movement and protection from being rendered useless/destroyed from 1 AP 1-2 hit.

I just can't see bringing him instead of a Knight.

Funny enough though, if he managed to get the charge on a Knight, he could kill it before the Knight even got to swing back. Not likely to get the charge on a Knight I know, just fun to think about.

Do you know, I'm wondering if they already gave Chaos their 40k Leviathan Dreadnought:

Spoiler:

There's definitely some similarities. Be interesting to get a size comparison

Fully agreed, far too expensive for a model that can die to a single meltagun shot in the butt.
It's nice that it has a 4++, even better in that, unlike normal Atomantic Shielding, it still gets the full 4++ in assault.
Pity the 40K relic version can't upgrade the flamers to Volkites like the 30K one can.

Why did they included the Attacks in the profile, God that sort of thing is annoying. keep it uniform. 3 attacks base, and we know because of the rules +1 because of two CCWs.

Too expensive like all the other 40k walkers from FW. Is cool and all, but nothing special.

They actually made it even more annoying, due to the wording of the Storm cannons, you lose 1 attack for each that you replace, giving it an extra -1 attack if you replace both...

Exactly. 4 base attacks is what makes Dreadnoughts at least mediocre as a melee choice now. It, and Contemptors, need the same treatment.
