As I'm sure some of you already do I have started to compile my list rules for House rules for
AOS, most are designed to expand establish concepts and aim for fun. This is not a balancing rules set.
AOS House Rules:
(UET: Until the End of the Turn, UNPT: Until the Next friendly Player Turn)
(Narrative wise main rules and house rules may be disregarded as needed, eg sudden death, mysterious terrain ect.)
• ‘Luck of the Draw’
When rolling to decide whose turn it is any rolls that draw are won by the person who didn’t have the last turn.
• ‘Distances’
All measuring is done from the base, any models in combat are considered in range depending on how much/many bases are in-between them in comparison to their weapons range. Some large models span over the edges of their base, models touching models are considered to be in base to base contact for the purposes of combat. (Some warscroll weapons ranges may need to be adjusted)
• ‘Tome of the Winds’
Magic users may select spells from the Tome instead of their warscroll.
• ‘Summons’
A wizard must concentrate all their power to summon forth and stabilise a unit of warriors. When you successfully cast a summon spell the wizard may not summon any other models until the current unit is destroyed, any summoned units are brought forth at the minimum squad size.
• ‘Look out Sir’
During the shooting phase any model with the hero keyword that is within 1’’ of a friendly unit with the same faction may pass any wounds onto the friendly unit on the roll of a 3+. Saves are taken by the wounded as normal.
• ‘Challenges’
During any friendly turn in which a model with the hero keyword is in combat they may issue a challenge to any enemy models with the hero keyword in the same combat, the opponent may choose any hero in the combat to fight the challenge, they may now only attack each other, with the winner bestowing +1 bravery on all friendly units within the same combat UET. If the challenge is refused the abstaining heroes units within the same combat suffer -1 bravery UET.
• ‘Pile in’
When piling in, models must move their distance in any direction to get into base contact by the shortest route possible (this may temporarily take them further away) as along as it does not bring them within 3’’ of enemy models not engaged in the combat or leave them out of coherency once the pile in move is finished, if casualties have put a unit out of coherency subsequent pile in moves must be used by both parties to bring the unit back into coherency by the shortest distances possible.
• ‘Close Call’
When shooting into melee combat any roles to hit of a 1 are resolved against the closest friendly unit in that combat. To wound and save rolls are taken as normal. Any friendly units suffer any unsaved wounds in this manner their bravery is reduced by 1 UNPT.
• ‘Combat roles’
When shooting out of melee combat any model in base contact with the enemy is too preoccupied to fire their weapon, any other models may fire as normal but will be subject to the ‘close call’ special rule if they fire into their own combat.
• ‘Stand and Fire’
A unit can choose to forgo moving and charging to gain 6’’ of range in the shooting phase.
• ‘Take to the Skies’
In the Movement phase all models that can fly must choose to either Soar or Glide UNPT. Units of fliers must use the same method. Soaring units may not gain a cover save and are considered to be high enough to not be obscured from view by non-overhead terrain. Soaring units may only be attacked and attack back in subsequent shooting and combat phases with ranged weapons at +1 to their hit stat (this may make some units unable to shoot). Gliding units may use cover and true
LOS as normal. Gliding units may hit/be hit in the shooting phase and the combat phase as normal but are never locked into combat and may move on in subsequent turns without using the rules for retreat.
I may have forgotten some as this is the first hard copy
lol, so anyway I would love to hear your own
HR's or suggestions or questions about my
HR's. I hope you start using some of your own rules to have fun in
AOS, feel free to use any of the above if you think it would add to your experience.
Thanks for reading and i look forward to your comments
