So, gauss causes automatic wounds on a to hit roll of 6 now?

My main question is are tesla weapons also gauss, so a roll of 6 is automatically 3 wounds? Just trying to clear this up without his codex in my hands.

Gauss: When firing a weapon with this special rule, a To Wound roll of a 6 wounds automatically, regardless of the target's Toughness

Tesla: When firing a weapon with this special rule, a To Hit roll of a 6 causes 2 additional hits on the target. Snap Shots never cause additional hits as a result of this special rule.

I think you're misuderstanding how Gauss works.
Gauss does not cause a wound on a To hit roll of 6, it always wounds on a To wound roll of 6. This might not seem that usefull, but this means that a Str4 gauss flayer can wound Tougness 8 models (whereas other Str 4 guns can't).
On a To hit roll of 6, Tesla weapons add 2 hits to the pool. You still have to roll To wound as you would with any other weapon.

Gauss example:
10 Necron warriors shoot at a Daemon prince that has T8 due to the Iron arm psychic power. They score 6 hits. You roll to wound and roll a single 6. Normally, Str 4 guns would not be able to would toughess 8, but because of the Gauss rule, the daemon prince suffers a single wound.

Tesla example:
10 Necron immortals shoot at a squad of Plague marines. 6 of them hit, and there are two rolls of 6. You add 4 extra hits, for a total of 10 (because for every 6, you add 2 hits).
You roll to wound with 10 dice, you roll to wound as normal (Str 5 vs T5, so needin a 4+). You get 5 rolls of 4+ and that's how many wounds the marines suffer.

You don't have to be happy when you lose, just don't make winning the condition of your happiness.

Also, because it hasn't been specifically stated, only weapons with the Gauss special rule have the Gauss special rule, so that means that Tesla weapons do not have it.

Thank you guys, because i didnt bother to actually read his codex we were playing it wrong as far as tesla and the extra shots.

i thought gauss worked on to wound rolls but something i saw in another post on here made it seem like it was on the to hit roll.

how long has gauss been able to always wound on a 6? i remember back in the day it was only for glancing vehicles

Gauss auto-wounded on a 6 in the 3rd edition codex, lost it for the 5th edition codex, then got it back again in the 7th edition codex.
