Anyone know how to tell which armour facing of a vehicle the free seeker missile from the infiltration cadre hits?
I mean the rule which means you get a free seeker missile hit if you score 3 markerlights with a single unit.
It states it comes from air support flying above the battlefield so you could assume it behaves like barrage falling from above and hits side armour. On the other hand you could assume it comes from the unit which scored the markerlight hits but the unit probably doesn't have access to a seeker missile and how do you decide which model in the unit it came from if models in a unit can see different facings.
I get this is shoddy rule writing but is there a safe assumption to make on how this works?

Normal seeker missiles come from the unit firing it/spending markerlights, so I'd guess the Pathfinders would be the ones firing it.
Send an e-mail to GW team (or better yet, WD team. They answer faster). Not official, but we could have a grasp of their intentions.

Did they change it? Used to be the missile hit the side facing the vehicle firing it since that's where its actually coming from.

If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs
For the love of God, GW, get rid of reroll mechanics. ALL OF THEM! |

The free seeker missiles in the infiltration cadre aren't fired by a vehicle. Their supposed to be fired by air support high above the battlefield.
For regular seeker missiles it'll hit the side exposed to the vehicle firing it but the infiltration cadre doesn't need there to be a seeker missile on the table for one to be earned.

Yes, but this doesn't answer the question - which side is hit by the free missile? I'm betting on the closest side to the unit that managed the 3 MLs.

Ohhh those missile, forgot about them, I was happy with just the deep strike shenanigans. The missiles are just icing on the cake if they ever get to use them.
Just a guess, I would venture to say its the unit that fired the marker lights just for simplicity's sake. Makes the most sense from an ease of gameplay point of view.

Yeah, I was replying to the confused guy above my post. Col. Dash wrote:Ohhh those missile, forgot about them, I was happy with just the deep strike shenanigans. The missiles are just icing on the cake if they ever get to use them.

Guess its safe to assume it hits the side most facing the unit which scored the markerlight hits
