I have a Space Marine Army but want to move to something new and refreshing. No restrictions, just want something new and awesome.

Nah, just go with whatever you like the look of and you'll enjoy collecting and painting. As KaptainBadrukk suggested, Orks are a fun army to collect due to the immense conversion opportunity and fun to play because they're unique.

What kind of marine army do you play?

A second army that plays very differently from your main can be a nice change of pace. If you play White Scars, you might want a slow, tough army like necrons to balance it. If you do a fortified gunline Imperial Fist army, you might want something fast and flighty, like some flavor of Eldar.

Same can be said for painting/modeling. If you are a by the books Ultramarine player, you might want to embrace chaos or your inner mecboy, and break out the plastcard and greenstuff.

Something totally different. Sadly most of the armies that aren't like Space Marines are in the crapper ATM (mid to long range durable shooting armies forever!!! -GW) buuuut

I went from SMs to Orks and had a BLAST using my extra SM bits. I loved adding in looted weaponry, Shoulderpads, vehicle plates etc for the glory of the waaaagh.

Will look into some Orks and maybe Tau as I play Black Templars currently.

I would strongly suggest either Eldar or Tau.

Both are very different from marines while still being strong. Eldar have few bad units (3? Maybe?) so you can build whatever you want and the models look amazing.

Tau have more bad units (5? Possibly more) but are still a strong dex with a LOT of options.

Necrons I think are too similar, since they have MEQ stats and are durable.

Orks. Such a cool army and definitely brings a variety of options to the table.

If you play BT in the classic way (charge across the table like a bunch of nutters) I’d definitely go Tau for a change of pace.

Consider it from a painting and modelling perspective too. If for example, you feel you're a bit jaded with working on armoured figures, then go for something fleshy like nids, orks or daemons. If you'd prefer something sleeker than marines, look no further than (Dark) Eldar.

I am in the same boat as you, trying to branch out of my ultramarine army.

The dark eldar grabbed my attention, mainly for the fluff. The "wych cult shardstorm" bundle also was a decent deal (saving $10 plus a free HQ). Looking at the Orc page there doesnt appear to be any bundles to save a few bucks.

I have a similar situation. I have a nice collection of blood angels and i wanted to try something else out. Im debating between orks, tyranids, and dark eldar. All have awesome models and have a varied style of play. The problem is, I don't think I'll end up choosing one but all of them!

Orks. With a Mad Max theme. DO IT.
