Just wondering what Legion is "the walkiest" for 30k? As in, which one prefers to use as few vehicles as possible?

Given the sheer size and independent nature of the many chapters warbands etc of the Legions it would be hard to state which one was the walkiest. I would go with alpha legion off of them being all sneaky but I can't recall any legion preferring not to use APCs where they are available.

Well, I know that Death Guard tended towards footslogging, having very few Rhinos.

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

Death Guard and World Eaters, I think?

Imperial Fists may also be a good candidate. Iron Hands perform well with boots on the ground thanks to their resistance to incoming fire.

I know that Iron Warriors are pretty good at wading though fire as they don't take morale tests for shooting casualties. That said they are more of a "fire from this trench line" kind of force and can safely advance up the field at times due to being able to pin opposing infantry with shrapnel bolters and artillery for armored threats. Plus who doesn't want a unit called "Tyrant siege terminators"?

The enemies of Mankind may employ dark sciences or alien weapons beyond Humanity's ken, but such deviance comes to naught in the face of honest human intolerance back by a sufficient number of guns.

At first I read the title as "The Weakest 30k Legion" and about sent one of my eyebrows through the roof based on the answers given by other posters.

3850 pts
Deathwatch: 1500 pts
Imperial Knights: 375 pts

Death Guard: "Mortarion learned battle in a theatre of rocky mountainous terrain, without benefit of machinery. Though his considerable intellect allowed him to grasp the value of such support when his elevation to Primarch of a Space Marine Legion made such things as tanks and transport available, the primacy of the foot soldier remained ever the trademark of the Death Guard. Mortarion preferred to utilise huge waves of infantry, well-equipped and highly-trained on an individual level." at least that's how it was in their Index Astartes article.

In practical terms you'll want the legions with the best morale rules. So death guard, iron warriors, and word bearers can do foot slogging quite well. All in different ways of course. Iron Hands can also foot slog well due to their inviolate armor but don't have any supporting morale buffs.

Some like ultramarines, especially with their RoW, are naturally infantry heavy. World Eaters excel at 20 man CC blobs.

Raven Guard, night Lord's, and alpha legion all excel at infiltrating and thus are good at infantry heavy lists.

My 30k experience is limited, but foot slogging can be a dangerous proposition in that rule set due to the large amount of high strength and AP blasts found in the game.

With Budda, with the mass fire available to 30k armies, a foot slogging list is at a large disadvantage without some sort of gimmick. Infiltration is highly useful in mass. Jump troops are also fairly helpful. My Night Lord army and IW army would tear apart a generic foot slogging army with very little hand to hand involved.

Things to try- biggest blob you can have with an apothecary.

If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs
For the love of God, GW, get rid of reroll mechanics. ALL OF THEM!
