So I am brainstorming an Imperial Fists formation. It would be like the regular Battle Demi-Company, but could only trade Assault Squads for Assault Centurions (rather than Bikes and Land Speeders). One of the Command Benefits would be that Bolters (including Sternguard special ammunition) could change to be 2/3 Salvo instead of Rapid Fire (Imperial Fists are the undisputed masters of the Bolter) and Heavy Bolters would be 3/5 Salvo. They would also gain Counterattack if they don't move.

There would be a formation for Devastator Centurions (no Drop Pod option though).

Some kind of cool dev+ass cent formation would be cool.
Portable Void Shield
Assault from a building
Repair buildings
Stealth (ruins)
Bolters with shred
Bolters with melta
Formation that allows you to move an objective x" toward your line
Making buildings worth VP (to you and your opponent)

Dev Cents currently do not have a formation, which is why I want to come up with one. I don't really want it to just be Dev Cents, that is a boring formation. If there was a Mortis Pattern Dreadnought in the codex, it would be in there. It may require a fortification like an Aegis Defense Line.

I came up with a name for the Bolter ability. It is Bolter Fusilade.

So here are some of the things I came up with.

Bolter Fusilade: Imperial Fists are the undisputed masters of bolt weaponry. All boltguns, Combi-weapons firing as boltguns, and Sternguard Special Ammunition lose the Rapid Fire special rule and gain 2/3 Salvo special rule instead. Heavy Bolters lose the Heavy 3 special rule and gain 3/5 Salvo special rule instead.

Steadfast Defenders: If any units in this detachment have no moved during the Movement phase or Assault, they gain the Counter-Attack special rule. Additionally, all attacks made in turns where the unit has not moved are made at +1 Initiative.

Hammer Blow: Any models using an Unwieldy weapon with an Attack characteristic of 2 or higher can voluntarily lower their Attack characteristic to 1. All attacks made that turn are made without the Unwieldy rule. Note: the models that benefit from this rule can still gain an additional attack for charging in the assault phase, but may not gain additional attacks for wielding two close combat weapons.
