So, I was looking at the Betrayal at Calth box thinking I wanted the haplain model from it to make a custom Wolf Priest for my Space wolves and trying to figure out what to do with the rest o the models when I rememberd a old idea I had, To make my own chapter either as a renegade chapter, Who hasent fallen to chaos but has fallen out of the grace of the imperium. Or, Make my own chapter in two versions, One before their fall to chaos, And one after their fall to chaos. And I thought that old idea might be good, Since the Betrayal at Calth box gives a good start of a marine army. The question is, What of the two ideas sounds the most intresting? A custom renegade chapter, Or two armies representing a chapter before and after their fall to chaos?

Bear in mind that the Knights Repentant are NOT canon.

These renegade-but-not-Chaos Marines are a good way to get a more noblebright, humanitarian chapter out there, who perhaps dabbles in xenotech or maybe consorts with aliens.
Either way, these Chapters are regarded as pretty Mary Sue, so bear that in mine when writing fluff for them. Mostly, when people write for these snowflake Chapters, they tend not to have real flaws or any flaws they do have are irrelevant, and usually end up not fitting in with the 40k setting.

But, I'm sure that you'll do fine with these guys. It's a big galaxy, and there's plenty of room for your dudes.

Might make a chapter, Who has fallen to chaos, And then build both their pre and post fall forces.. Or maybe just make a Death Guard army.. Hmm.. I shall need to think about this more..

I'll throw in a vote for the before and after. Because unless you talk about your renegade chapter, it's no different than any other Marine list and I personally don't give a toss for someone's personal fluff. I'm much more interested in why they took models in terms of gameplay, not what planet they came from. But having a before and after visually represented, that's actually interesting. Coming back the following week with a 'this is the same guy but the chaos version' is a hook to make me care about the army and even get a campaign idea. that kind of thing can change how the game might be played and I'm all about that.
