The Grey Knights are supposed to be very mysterious and secretive but I have always loved them and thought about using a squad of grey knight termies in my space marine army. What would be a fluff friendly reason for them to fight alongside my force? I can't imagine they would stay long after the battle to chat lol

Maybe Chaos Daemons are so angry all the time because despite their near infinite intelligence they can't seem to forge anything more complex than a sword, an axe, or a staff

Daemons appeared, the GK were called.

The GK exist only to fight daemons. They have no other actual operational mandate. It is assumed that, if they are fighting non-daemons, that the people they are fighting are thought to be daemon-worshippers or something, or are in thrall to daemons.

The GK might chat a lot... but then anyone they served beside is either executed (with full honors) or mind-wiped.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

As above. People who fight alongside the Grey Knights tend to either be executed if they are disposable, or mindwiped/sworn to secrecy. Marines will always either be mindwiped or forced to take terrible oaths to keep the secret of the GKs.

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

Grey Knights are one of the most pragmatic Imperium armies - they'll work with other forces or even xenos if it means putting the hurt on demons.

Not necessarily.

I am the Hammer. I am the right hand of my Emperor. I am the tip of His spear, I am the gauntlet about His fist. I am the woes of daemonkind. I am the Hammer.

Grey Knights are known to every Chapter Master, to most Inquistors, and to the High Lords of Terra. And after the events in "Emperor's Gift", just about everyone else knows about Grey Knights, too. They are the "Men in Black" of the 40k setting, the boogy men moms scare their children with to get them to eat their vegetables.

Grey Knights have no issues xenos, and okay with being mistaken for normal Astartes. What they cannot allow is for knowledge of daemonic entities to become common, which is why they work in secret. It is the Inquisition, however, that will purge a world to keep a secret.

Grey knights are heretical xenos lovers that need to be purged. They would fight with almost anyone as long as it fits their delusional plans.
Inquisitors, Xenos races, Imperial support, Just not chaos. They will need and ask for some support from time to time.
But don't thrust those bastards. They bath in Blood of the innocent and use all kinds of illegal Xenos technology.

Except that didn't happen any more. :p

What happened was that the GK dropped in on a different world, broke some Sisters out of a siege, and then relied on their help to achieve their objective.

An objective they would have been denied if the sisters hadn't rescued their (and Draigo's) backsides twice in the process.

I agree with others above. The Grey Knights will teleport in heroically, save the Astartes, and den....
