Since there are a lot of people here working on their own custom factions in the game, I thought I'd point out that Variance Hammer is running a custom faction fluff contest over the holiday season, running until the middle of February. The rules are here: http://variancehammer.com/contest/ but in short if you have 2,000 words of fiction for the faction in some form, be it a timeline, and Index Astartes article, short story, etc. and a willingness to paint a single miniature, you have an entry.

There's also some pretty sweet prizes - a case from KR with custom foam, a F.A.T. mat from Frontline Gaming, other fun stuff from Secret Weapon, Greenman Designs, and Mechanical Warhorse. Prizes will be given out both to the winners of the contest as well as an all-entrants raffle.
