Subject: Krassis Trelix+mini swarm

Focused Fire Warrior

Ran my new Slave 1 for the first time today as Krassis Trelix and had great success! My oppononts made mistakes in my first 2 games and I outflew them, and never lost a single ship!(I was running carnor jax and night beast with him.) I thought this build might prove a bit more effective.
Krassis Trelix-Slave 1 title, Heavy Laser Cannon, extra munitions, cluster rockets, proximity mines, intelligence agent-53
Mauler Mithel-17
Howlrunner-18
Academy Pilot-12
What do you guys think? I feel like the mini TIE swarm will be threatening enough that people will wanna focus it down, and Krassis can live and merrily drop proximity mines on people and shoot off his missiles and Laser cannon.
I was finding that the best way to use the proximity mines was to just get someone directly behind me and then drop them on their face, and then pummel them with 4 dice out my rear. I tried to keep people in my front arc as long as possible but it was hard except in the first game(was playing vs Han+2 Bwings) Any suggestions or comments are appreciated!

Hmmm...
My concern on Krassis is that you're overloading him with too many secondary weapons. He can deploy mines and fire his laser cannon, but can't fire the laser and the missiles at the same time (because both are an attack), or drop mines and fire the missiles (because both need an action).
I'd drop the missiles, which gives you 4 points to make the swarm more threatening - upping the academy pilot to Backstabber or Dark Curse, or giving Howlrunner some kit to keep her alive longer (Stealth Device + Determinaton?)
Mines are a good call on a low-ish PS ship - you can overfly someone and drop mines directly on them, which is very annoying to an interceptor or similar because they don't get to use their green dice....

I did that several times yesterday lol, dropped mines right on a K-wing, and an A-wing, and a B-wing. I took the missiles because it means I've got a secondary weapon at range 1 but I guess 4 dice is good enough, plus it opens my action options up so I can focus. Those cluster missiles are DEADLY with krassis though. If I open up on a low agility ship it's taking 3-4 hits at least. 6 dice with 2 rerollable is pretty strong. 4 dice with a focus is probably stronger against high agi ships though...
But you're right. I think upping the academy pilot to backstabber would be better. Get them on a ship's butt at Range 1 and that ship is just dead. 11 dice, 2 rerollable. That's brutal. Of course, people are gonna just focus the TIEs down but that leaves Krassis to do his own thing, dropping mines, HLCing people, what have you.
I did find that in the matches I played I did a good job at keeping my undamaged ships in the enemy's arcs, while getting my other ships into less tempting positions. In both games I won, Carnor Jax was at 1 hull from turn one-two onwards and NEVER DIED.Gogo autothrusters! it's not hard to outlfy your opponent when you have TIE Interceptors though haha. We'll see how regular TIEs do, they're less maneuverable but I have more hull points at least, and can get just as many attack dice as Interceptors at range 1 with mauler and backstabber.

I would do something more along the lines of:
Krassis Trelix (36)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
"Howlrunner" (18)
Stealth Device (3)
Academy Pilot (12)
Academy Pilot (12)
Academy Pilot (12)
Total: 100

I like Krassis, I consider him one of the most perpetually underrated pilots in the game. But don't over-invest in him. You can theoretically get strong 1-2 punch with cluster missiles if you also equip recon specialist (this gives you a re-roll and focus token for both shots), but that requires a lot of effort to set up. Better to just give him an HLC or Mangler Cannon, and call it good. Engine Upgrade and Gunner are also useful upgrades to try out.
The miniswarm is pretty simple: give Howlrunner something for survivability, and just fill the rest of your list with academy pilots. Dropping all those upgrades off of Krassis (as well as the named TIEs) gives you enough points for a whole extra ship.

Ya it was mostly just a fun list, I had fun with it.
This might be interesting
Krassis, Mangler cannon, seismic charges, gunner, tactical jammers
Howlrunner-stealth device
Backstabber-stealth device
Academy Pilot. 12
With this list you start off the TIEs next to Krassis facing him, and turn in such a way that all the TIEs end up just behind him. They get 5 dice for the opening barrage, so my opponent is just gonna target krassis, while the TIEs go in for a shot outside of the enemy's arc somewhere, preferably at rng1. Alternatively I could drop the stealth devices and tactical jammers and get Epsilon leader so I can K-turn whenever I like.
You are of course, right. 4 ships>3 but normal TIEs on their own aren't that threatening. Having backstabber gives me a ship that is a bit more threatening when howlrunner inevitably dies. The other Academy pilot can be my designated blocker when howlrunner dies.

I honestly don't get the appeal of Krassis. His pilot ability is just a significantly weaker version of predator, so why not spend a few more points and get a better pilot with predator? I mean, look at the lists you guys are proposing. Are you really getting so much out of those stealth devices or a marginal upgrade from an academy pilot that you need to take the absolute cheapest possible way of getting a firespray with a re-roll?

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices. |

What would you suggest then? Kath Scarlett? Boba Fett? I suppose Kath with predator and mangler cannon would be pretty solid.
How about this?
Kath Scarlett-tactical jammer, predator, gunner, mangler cannon(51)
Backstabber(16)
Howlrunner+ stealth device(18)
Academy Pilot(12)
I'm either dealing a crit, or giving a stress, and if I give that stress, I'm still getting a second shot. The TIEs can still fly in behind the Firespray and get defensive bonuses, and the lynchpin(howlrunner) is pretty tough to bring down.
