Does having two of the same gun still replace the profiles with twin linked or can I shoot both?  [RSS] Share on facebook Share on Twitter Submit to Reddit

For instance, I'm planning a list with Landspeeders and I was planning on running two with double heavy flamers and two with double multimeltas so I would have two squads of two that can each focus on what they're best at, but since I'm running vulkan hestan these would already be twinlinked right? So is the old rule still in place that if you have two of the same weapon would you only be able to fire one as twin linked? How would this work for pistols, I remember reading a model may fire both pistols in the rule book but if they're the same pistol (ie Grav-Pistol) would this make it one twin linked shot? I haven't played since 4th or 5th edition and my first game will be tomorrow so I just want to make sure the list I'm thinking of makes sense and isnt too redundant

No, in that case you would have 2 multi meltas, on the land speeder, as in 2 shots, not twin linked.

I don't remember that every being a rule except for the first version of the Tau codex. Regardless, it certainly isn't a rule these days - if something allows you to buy two weapons, you have two weapons. If an upgrade turns an existing gun into a twin-linked version it will explicitly say so.

Thanks guys, really appreciate it, also realized that may have just been a tyranid thing, my two main armies have always been nids and marines and I may never have distinguished that rule from affecting other codexes, thank you for the quick helpful answer though
