I'm currently in Japan for a two week holliday and want to visit a store that sells GW and other tabletop gaming products. Yesterday I visited Iconoclasm in Osake, but that shop was so tiny I wasn't tempted to buy any souvenirs. I must admit, however, that it has a pretty impressive amount of stock.
Bought a ton of Gundam sprues at the hobby stores in that neighborhood, figured they'll make excellent bits for my new Tau army.
I'm hoping someone can guide me to a nice shop in Kyoto. Ideally the have army painter products. I'll be staying 5 nights in Kyoto so I might even have time to play a friendly battle.
Cheers,
Chris

I go to Kyoto 1-2 a year and I don't know of any.
I updated our store finder this summer with some shops from GW's site and visited Iconclasm, which is crowded and tiny but very well stocked. If you speak Japanese it might be worth calling them ask about finding a game.

There's 2 more shops in Osaka but I've not been to them.
The owner pointed me to Volks a multistory model shop about 2 blocks away (one south, one east) they had a full line of Vallajo paints.

In Kyoto there's a good model shop on Shijo, between Kawaramachi and Karasuma, north side of the road in the basement. I think they only have tamiya paints, but lots of great kits and plasticard.
Good luck and let us know what you find!

Actually if you read Japanese it seems Iconoclasm has games at a community center.

You'd probably need to at least speak some Japanese to play but might be able to get by with English (esp if you're familiar with how to 'katakana' your English). Most gaming terms are just transliterated and not translated.
Supesu Marinzu and so on...

Thanks for your help. I'm in Kyoto now and will take a look at that shop. Am really excited about getting some supplies; I live in China and there's nothing close to Games Workshop on my side of the country. Its easy to order GW through their store in Shanghai, but plasticard is hard to find.

Volks has all types of plasticard. There is one in Namba not far from hobbymetal

The shop in Kyoto (if you could post its name I'd be very happy!) also has extensive plasticard, rod and other supplies. Yodoyobashi Camera, one of the department stores near Kyoto Station, has a big model section as well, I think they had plasticard, not sure about what paints they have. Certainly they'll have Tamiya etc. http://www.yodobashi.com/ec/store/0083/index.html Though if you can get to Volks it's huge, like a department store of models.

I visited both places as I accidentally stumbled over the yobyashi hobby section when I was looking for the bathroom. I'll pick up some plasticard tomorrow.
Interesting thing I came across. I googled games workshop in Kyoto and was forwarded to a website with a job offering for a GW store manager in Kyoto. It was dated December 19th 2015. Thus, there could be a new GW opening here soon! After I have left, of course.
Thanks for all the help lads. I'm on my last two days in Japan, then back to China, which is kinda like the void, in hobby terms...
