So I got myself a BA dreadnought to add to my collection and I'm unsure on which variant to build. I'm thinking either Drop Pod or Stormraven for delivery (would be cool) and I'm unsure which of the variants would be best to fit into these transports.

My BA friend has decent success with a Furioso in a Drop Pod with a Frag Cannon

Get a furioso with a frag cannon. All other ba dreads are bad. Don't use stormravens. They are overcosted trash. Use a pod and hope your opponent gives you a good target. Lately people have deploying very craftily so I'm basically throwing away 200 pts, but maybe it will work for you.

I've always been underwhelmed by a Frag Cannon Furioso. Always feels like I'm throwing away 200pts to kill the equivalent of 2-3 Marines

If you're going to build one, I wonder if there's more mileage in a Librarian Dreadnought these days (especially if delivered by a Lucius Drop Pod).

Alternatively, build as Cassor the Damned and put in a pod so you don't have to field Tacticals/Scouts for one of your mandatory troop choices.

Yeah, but you don't target marines. You target black knights or something. Everything in the BA codex is underwhelming. At least the frag cannon furioso gets a shot off before it dies. Unless Tau.

Well I've built it with the Furioso body since people recommend it. I do like how the arms don't need to be glued on, so I can change between the four. Maybe I'll paint it flesh tearers.

Good choice, the frag cannon/heavy flamer variant in a pod is a great way to get first blood.
