Not sure how I feel about this trend, but it sounds that from this OP on if a sculpt already exists for the ship class the prize will only be cardboard and cards, NO MODEL

I can see it being a plus to keep OP costs down for stores running the blinds, but it is nice to have a while model when you win. It could also be annoying if you win and don't already own the ship type, though it shouldn't matter much for a D'Deridex because most people have at least one from the starter.

It irks me a little because I want as many D'Deridex ships as I can get my hands on (17 and counting)

As for the cards themselves...

I like the ship, nothing wrong with having an opportunity to get an extra attack die.

The Captain is a bit of a disappointment. They have had a couple of these no elite talent slot, but an ability to get one specific talent (Slar, Kurn, and another). These are crappie abilities and as much as it pains me to say,it seems rather "lazy". None of these captains have skills worth writing home over so it would have been much better to say
"this captain may take (X-talent) for free". For a free talent you might want to take one of these guys but as is they are there are better options.

The crew is pretty good and it is worth the extra 4 points to have a Centurion follow him on any shipnhe goes on.

The weapon is a bit meh, but great for that extra point you may have sitting around. Also as David pointed out this and things like Type 8 phasers and Additional Phaser Array, show a nice trend in cheap useful weapon upgrades. Only problem is these need to find their way in to retail packs and not prize kits

The talent is good for Shinzon, but for fewer points you could do better for other captains.

The Tech is good for its cost. It would be nice to pair with Mirok from the Apnex and repair two hull in one turn.

In whole it's what we want from a prize pack, nice to have but not game changing.

I find the lack of an actual toy quite annoying, it smells cheap. Nice cards but the lack of model, hmmm, coupled with the mind-blowing shoddy releases lately, I feel like noone is steering the STAW ship in WKs and their attention is already fixed elsewhere.

It really does feel like a Jekyll and Hyde routine with WK some days. They give us a dedicated attack wing web site, tournament rules, updated Borg, fun resources, and really great blind ships. Then on the other hand we get lack luster releases, crickets from the rules forum for months, and smaller and smaller OP kits

I think the reason behind it is to keep the cost of OPs down for stores and players. For instance one of my venues will charge $18-20 for the blinds to cover the OP kit if we have less than 6 people, oh course we can buy extra blinds after the OP for $15. But they say they have to cover the cost of the prize kit and I get that. It doesn't bother me because I understand that the smaller stores can't always eat that cost. I play at another store that is much bigger and they will let us have an OP with only 2 players and they only ask us to buy a ship.

I have seen some players be turned off by the extra cost, so I guess if it gets more people in it's a good move, but in the same breath I think that if a store is paying the $$ for the blind bricks WK should give them the OP kit for free. Let's face it, these things are made in China for pennies.

Enlightened self interest... it's beyond most companies in this business.
