Might be useful to describe the scenario, or can you link to it? I don't off hand know what it is.

Sure, The Trap is one of the battleplans presented in the first Age of Sigmar hardback book (or available from the app). The scenario is a fight to the death and sets the stage of a trap being sprung by ambushers upon a stronger force of invaders.

The invaders set up first, they have a 2' x 2' deployment zone that on a standard realm of battle board would be either of the central tiles. This area is devoid of any terrain to represent the killing field they have been led onto.

The ambusher can deploy in any of the remaining 5 realm of battle tiles as long as they are 9" away from the invader's forces.

The ambusher gets the first turn. In the first battleround neither side can move in the movement phase (though they can charge). There is also a penalty to the invader's saving throws from shooting in the first battleround and a bonus to ambushers in cover.

Lastly there are two unique general abilities. The ambusher can pick an enemy unit on the board and all get +1 to hit against the targeted unit, the invader can declare a counter charge where D3 units can be selected to pile-in and attack as a single activation.

I hope that's clear :-)

Played this one recently with my Son and had a pretty good time with it.

He was Undead as the Invader and I fielded Stormcast and Bretonnians as the Ambusher.

First off when playing these Battleplans that dont have a turn limit you MUST set a time limit, especially if you are throwing down over 100 wounds otherwise the game can become quite the grind especially with summoning armies.

We were using an 80 wound comp system that restricts Heros and monster scrolls. He managed to win against my Order force but only due to getting so many skeletons and zombies resummoned.I killed all his monsters and casters but wasn't left with enough power to take out the 50+ zonbies and skellies on the board as I only had my lord celestant remaining and a couple of Judicators at that point.

Checking the clock the game had gone on for almost 3.0 hrs, much longer than most events would allow for..

Another thing to consider about this scenario is that it uses the brb victory conditions and if a player summons a ton of models to the field then they will likely only be able to win by tabling their opponent. With this in mind and a time limit it becomes rather tricky for summoning armies. But if theres no time limit then a summoner will likely overcome any army as long as the casters stay safe in the backfield.
